HEhe I think you nailed exactly what I wanted from his appearance!

yeah I wanted that bit of armor to have a dip in it where someone *could* potentially fit. While most centaurs would not accept someone riding on their back unless under extreme circumstances, and would be highly offended if asked, Ashton probably doesn't mind if it's important.
Actually you know what he probably doesn't mind his friends riding on his back for leisure as they wander around market streets and stuff.

I love that! The fact they are just casual about it, maybe even in the "Ye, I mean, it doesn't even bother me if someone sits there, sometimes it's quite nice and as I have way more stamina than them, we can go for longer strolls, so why not?"-mindset when hanging out with friends is really, really awesome!

So many roleplay opportunities for nice and important bonding moments between mates or even strangers.
Imagine them rescueing someone and most of the party stays back to hold back a horde of whatnot while pony-lad here straps a wounded victim to their back and is sent back to the city to alarm the guard and get them to a healer! So epic *___*

Yeah I could see that happening! It'd certainly be fun to play as him for sure.

Funny thing is though his ability to run far and long to get to the town for help would def be a viable strategy, he is also a fighter... and a centaur, with a cool plearm. He can very much also be the last line of defence while his party members run off cus fighters can be absolute tanks. In P2e (which I wrote him in) he'd have a little more hp from his race and fighters get to do lots of cool stuff and get really good proficiencies in weapons and armor and stuff. In 5e there's less in the way of cool class choices but fighters end up able to make so many attacks it's almost sarcastic XD
So that would also be a viable strategy too.

I played a centaur cleric super fun but I could not decide wether to tank or heal with him in the beginning lol. Also for any unwanted riders it’s a dexterity save verses your strength check :D

heh, if I was in that situation, and I was ashton, I'd probably be like "Yeah, I *could* embarass myself by bucking all about and then just turn this into a challenge you'll come back with your mates to do... alternatively, I have a big spikey thing." *deploys glaive* xD
