Crossfolf Chrome : Self Portrait with 1951 Cadillac
I was enchanted by this beautiful, unrestored Camelot Grey 1951 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan that appeared at this year's local car show, and I wanted to get some good pictures of it.
The problem was, the sun was directly overhead and I couldn't get my own reflection out of the shot, try as I might.
So finally, I gave up and deliberately caught myself reflected in this fine old Cadillac's factory-applied finish as I took a shot of the car's classic postwar "Cadillac" script that adorned the fenders of every Cadillac from 1947 to 1955.
TRIVIA: The Series 62 sedan was Cadillac's most popular model during the early postwar era until it was overtaken in sales by the Sedan DeVille which was introduced in 1956 as a fancier, hardtop sedan. The 62 Series was replaced by the Calais in 1965 as Cadillac's entry-level model, and amusingly, the Calais was far outsold by the Sedan DeVille until it was discontinued in 1977. The "Sedan DeVille" name would remain a staple in Cadillac's model lineup until the late '90s.
Another automotive Crossfolf Camera Presentation. ^_^
