Story:
Leaf yawned and licked his lips, shifting in his lime-colored bed as he got up. His shirt slightly folded at the bottom, his underwear visible through the top of his shorts. He glanced at his clock, 7:50, Tuesday morning. Mom would leave for work at about 8:30 today. She had the weekend+Monday’s off, but the rest was work time for her. She worked as a software engineer, and her friend, Fuo the Delphox, was her co-worker.
Leaf recollected the events from last week. After his babysitter Sylvy left, his mother and Fuo had come home to the odd sight of their children clad in diapers. Thankfully, Leaf’s was dry, and he was woken up and explained the mishap to his mother, Shard, and her friend Fuo.
“Sylvy thought I was… a baby.” he explained. Thankfully, Shard took responsibility for not telling Sylvy the ages of her children, especially since her Snivy son was unnaturally short for his age. Leaf was thankful that they both bought his story, even though it may be bogus.
The Shiny Fennekin Sam kept in touch with Leaf through text, as she’d already had a phone. Leaf knew from experience in losing to her that she was smart enough to handle a telephone all by herself, so he was glad she had one to keep in touch.
Fuo had the Tuesday off, unlike Shard, and, because of that, offered to take Leaf for a day out instead. It was Leaf’s last 2 days of Spring Break left, so why not enjoy them doing stuff that was fun, like hanging out with friends?
Leaf knew about this, and had planned what to do beforehand. He decided on biking to the store to grab Pull-Ups to wear, and hide them in his room, in order to keep the disguise of his failure to potty train. Sam thought Leaf wore Pull-Ups not because he wanted to, but because he had to. She wore hers for the same reason.
Leaf glanced at the clock, checking the time, although it was unnecessary as he heard his mother call for him.
“Leaf, I’m leaving now, she’ll come pick you up around 9:30 alright?” yelled the Serperior.
“Okay mom, have fun!”
“Haha, very funny. You have fun with your friend and Fuo, she’ll take care of you while I'm gone today.” And with that, the Snivy could hear the door being shut and his garage opening, as his mother slithered into her car to head off to work.
Peeking through his blinds, Leaf made certain that his mothers’ car fully cleared the driveway and drove away out of sight, before rushing downstairs. Leaf grabbed some dry cereal to snack on and his wallet, as he opened the garage again and grabbed his bike. He knew there was Pull-Ups in the convenience store by the Little Sneasels, a pizza place that he liked. As he was biking down, he spotted a few of school acquaintances and waved at them, with them waving back. He couldn’t find Cream, his Eevee best friend, out and about, which shocked the Snivy. Cream was a very extroverted and kind ‘mon, he’s also small for his age at 11, but most Eevees typically were small, and Cream was almost always outside making new friends or doing what he liked. Besides, the sunny day was evident that he would normally be outside.
Parking his bike at the side of the shop, Leaf braced himself and checked his wallet. With a little bit over 532 Poke, he’d hope this was enough for a small package, as it was barely enough for some Potions. He pocketed his wallet in his shorts and walked through the store. It was crowded for sure, he saw families of big and small with carts for various goods, like a Piplup alone buying a bunch of cooking supplies like mushrooms, celery, and oatmeal.
‘What a weird combo.’ Leaf thought to himself. He contemplated grabbing a basket, but it was just one thing, and it’d be in a bag later anyways. He walked down the aisles until he found the one marked “Baby material/Changing Supplies”. He pulled out his cereal and began to snack on it. He blushed as he saw a mother and her Chimchar child walk past him in the aisle, and he turned to look around. Leaf saw diapers of many sizes and brands, and a few pairs of Pull-Ups training pants, but none that looked too appealing in design. He was sure he’d fit into a small-medium size of Pull-Up, which were typically cuter in their prints, so he was happy about that small detail. He spotted a 20 pack of Evolution Pull-Ups, and was excited to buy them, however they were a bit out of his budget at around 1000 Poke. There were smaller multiples listed at 500 Poke for 10, but it was sold out. Leaf finished his cereal and threw away the bag it was in.
‘Sam had that one earlier.’ he thought, finally settling on a 10 pack of Pull-Ups that were 450 Poke. They were called Paw-Ups, and were a name brand that was generally known to be a decent well-rounded Pull-Up, with designs that were typically consisting of paw prints of various species of Pokemon, with the Pokemon displayed on the front. The pack that Leaf purchased was an assorted fire-type pack of 5, with 2 of each Pull-Up. Flipping it over on the back, he noticed the print designs on the Pull-Ups. Vulpix, Litleo, Fennekin, Litten and Growlithe designs were on the training pants. He remarked at how cute they looked, and would look on him hopefully, as he began to walk away, he ran into someone, dropping his package of Pull-Ups in the process.
“Oh! I’m so sorry, let me…” Leaf stopped as he looked at an Eevee’s eyes, but not just any Eevee, it was Cream.
“It’s fine Leaf, what are you doing here?”
Leaf picked back up his Pull-Ups and helped Cream back onto his paws using his vines. “W-well, I’m babysitting, and I needed to buy some Pull-Ups for today so I had some spares for later.” he stammered. He was sure that Cream could tell something was up from the way he talked, but he’d been out in public with Cream enough that the Eevee probably knew that public settings typically weren’t for the Snivy.
“Okay. Hey, maybe we can hang out tomorrow? Last day of Spring Break and all?
Leaf responded “That sounds fine, I have some games we can play at my house, that sounds good!”
“Alright then Leaf, have fun babysitting!” said the Eevee, trodding away and picking up a basket to shop for something.
Leaf sighed and went over to the self-checkout register. No way he’d be using a normal cashier after his heart was already racing. What if the cashier was another one of his mothers’ friends? He’d rather play it safe. But as luck would have it, he was NOT safe. Checking out his Pull-Ups, he went to grab his bills to pay for the 450 package, and as he slid the bills in, a red light flashed overhead.
‘This can’t be good’ he thought, noticing a Ninetales walk up from behind him, tails flowing as she came to a stop at his station.
“It’s alright hon, these things do that sometimes, you didn’t do anything wrong.” the kitsune reassured Leaf. “We’ll get you your diapers and you’ll be off, okay?” A few heads turned to glance over at the Snivy, much to his dismay. Leaf was extremely uncomfortable at this, praying to Arceus it would all be over soon. Turning back to look, his Pull-Ups were already in the bag, and his bills already in the machine, change being given out in a small bowl. She must’ve put the money in for him, he guess, blushing as he grabbed the bag and change and left the store. Strapping the bag to one of his bike handles, he began the trek home.
Leaf realized he didn’t check the time, which was disappointing. Fuo and Sam would arrive at 9:30, so he had to be home for pickup by then. Whats worse, would he hide the Pull-Ups from Fuo, or ask her not to tell his mother? Things were on his mind as he typed the code to his garage, watching it slowly reel itself open, as he walked inside and closed his garage.
Kicking off his shoes and using his vines to situate them neatly, he threw away the bag that came with it and rushed upstairs with his package of Pull-Ups. He couldn’t wait to put one on. Just before he did, he checked his clock. 9:00.
‘Wow, I made better time than I expected.’ he thought, creating a clean tear in the package with a sharpened Magical Leaf. He hoisted his Magical Leaf in his hand as he cut more small portions in the package, juuust enough to slide out a Pull-Up for him. Just his luck, he found that the Fennekin Pull-Up was in his hand, reminding him of his playdate today. The Pull-Up had a Fennekin on the front with many of its paw prints acting as wetness indicators, as well as the tailhole having a small, printed-on Fennekin tail.
The Snivy, excited, took off his shorts and underwear, keeping his shorts near him as he put his clean undies in his hamper. Sliding on the red-accented Pull-Up and threading his leafy, three-pronged tail through the hole, he noted that it felt different than his other Evolution Pull-Ups he borrowed from Sam. It didn’t feel worse per se, just different from his ‘normal’ Pull-Up. It was more crinkly and made a bit more noise when he moved around, not enough for everyone nearby to know what he was wearing, but enough where, if all was silent, a faint crinkling could be heard. He rotated the packaging over to reveal what it said. It had dual ‘leak guards’, a stretchy waistband for easy on and off, and was quite comfortable. Leaf was satisfied that he made a good purchase. With about 20 minutes before his friend arrived, Leaf took his shorts and put them back on, concealing his Pull-Up. When he put his arms up, he noticed you could see the red and white of the top of the training pants, but it wasn’t like his arms would always be up. He went to the bathroom to check on himself. As he looked in a mirror, a cute Snivy looked back. He remarked on how he looked, green shirt, green shorts and an unusually off-themed red Pull-Up underneath. He went downstairs and grabbed a glass of Oran Berry juice to drink, as he waited for Fuo and Sam to pick him up.
With about 10 minutes left, he already knew what to tell Fuo. He’d pull her aside and tell her that he likes to wear Pull-Ups, but ask politely not to let his mother know about it. He was sure that Fuo, being the kind Delphox he thought she was, would be perfectly happy with it. After all, her daughter, Sam, was still 6 and using her Pull-Ups. Why couldn’t he?
Washing out his clear glass, he put it away and started the dishwasher, walking upstairs to prepare a bag for the trip. He wasn’t sure where they were going, but he decided to pack for the best. He went to his room and grabbed a small green backpack from his Kindergarten days, emptying out the loose pencil and began to stuff it with supplies. Water bottle on the side, bag of chips and some chocolate, and, of course, he stuffed 3 Pull-Ups into his backpack, being a Growlithe, Litten, and the other Fennekin one. He realized he was missing something, going into the upstairs bathroom and opening the familiar bottom drawer. He took the plain looking changing mat and folded it tightly with his vines so it would fit in his small backpack. Then, he grabbed the wet wipes that were there and shoved that into his pack, too. With him being prepared, he walked downstairs and set his pack by the stairs, walking into the bathroom to go.
As he walked into the bathroom, he pulled down his shorts to look at what he was wearing. The Fennekin on the design seemed to stare back at him as he was mesmerized by it. He could use it, sure, but why? There was a potty right in front of him, left by the shiny Sylveon, as well as his normal toilet. Pulling his Pull-Up down, he used the toilet normally, humming to himself as he went. He finished up and washed his hands after flushing, and stepped out to hear the garage door opening. They were here! This excited the Snivy, as he put his shoes on quickly and gathered his well-packed bag. He ran upstairs to his room and pocketed his phone, something he forgot earlier. Then, he waited on his couch for the two foxes to come in.
Soon he heard a knock on the garage door, as he heard the creak of it open, with paws stepping onto the hardwood floor.
“Leaaaaf! It’s me, Fuo! Your mom told me to come pick you up, so come on!” called the fox. She was wearing her normal dress with a diaper bag slung over her shoulder and, following her, was her daughter Sam. Sam was wearing a Riolu Rangers blue shirt as well as a pair of jeans. Peeking out from under her jeans was an Evolutions Pull-Up, this one being of the Sylveon variety. The shiny Fennekin bounded towards the couch to find her Snivy friend there.
“Hey Leaf! You ready to go?” she asked, tail wagging excitedly.
“Hi Sam, I think I’m ready to go, yeah.” he said, Pull-Up crinkling as he got off his couch. “Where are we going, Sam?”
“I don’t know, my mommy didn’t tell me yet.” she explained. “She said we’d have fun though!” The shiny fox then bounded off and by the garage door, waiting for the two to get ready.
Leaf walked up to the tall fox, almost three times his height, she towered over him and made him feel like a toddler in comparison, which wasn’t far off from what he had on him. “Miss Fuo, can I talk to you for a second?”
“Of course dearie, Sam, can you wait in the car? I have some Pecha juice in there for you.”
Sam gasped as her tail wagged furiously. “Okay! Thank you mommy!” she squeaked, dashing out towards the car.
“Now, Leaf, what do you need to tell me?” the Delphox asked. “Is it something bothering you?”
Leaf licked his lips, going through with this. “Well, Miss Fuo, the thing is…” he used his paws to pull down his shorts in the front, revealing his Pull-Up. “I… wear Pull-Ups. It’s b-”
“Oh honey, I know that already! Silly goose!” she laughed, pinching the Snivy’s cheek.
“But… who told you?”
“Oh it’s fine, really. Sam told me you have trouble making it to the potty on time, so it’s okay! She does too, so I don’t judge you for it bud. You’re both too old to be in Pull-Ups, but that okay to me, you can be my little babies all you want, okay hon?”
Leafs eyes began to tear up as he thought about this. Now Fuo thought that he was just like Sam; a young child with potty problems. How much different was this from telling her the truth? He decided to find out later, because for now there was fun to be had.
“O-ok Miss Fuo, thank you.” replied the Snivy, pulling his shorts back up.
“I have some more spares in my backpack if I need them… so I don't have to use Sam’s Pull-Ups.” he explained.
“Oh honey, it’s okay. I know you’re old enough to change yourself, but since this is a busy day, I’ll be changing you for the most part today, alright?”
The Snivy blushed extremely hard. His Pull-Up being changed by his friends’ mom? He didn’t really know how to feel. Then again, he let a stranger change his Pull-Up not too long ago, this couldn’t be that bad.
“And Leaf, I’ll be checking your Pull-Up sometimes to see if you had an accident, so don’t be surprised when I do.” she explained. “And if you need to go potty, please tell me before you go alright? I don’t want you running off.”
“Okay Miss Fuo, I will.” he said meekly. “I have a phone, can I put your number in it?”
The two exchanged numbers for easier contact, with the Delphox being satisfied that her messages and calls went through to the Snivy, as she led him over to her car. Inside, though, was a strap-on car seat for kids, with Sam already being strapped in by her mother as he tried to do his own by himself.
‘This is embarrassing…’ he thought, tossing his backpack by his feet area. Normally he just was in a plain booster for his mothers’ car, since he wasn’t tall enough to be without one yet, but this was a full-on toddler seat for babies. He even recognized it from the store, it was small enough to be meant for children aged 3-6. Fumbling with the straps and belts even more, he didn’t even notice the fox walking behind him to help him into his seat.
“Don’t worry about it hon, I’ll do it for you.” her voice soothing the Snivy as he stopped fiddling with the latches. He heard the distinct clicking noises of seatbelts and straps being attached to their requisite holders, as his Pull-Up was tight against him as one of the belts went in the front of him. At least the seat had a cup holder and arm rests.
“Now kids, you’ll know when you get there where we are, but prepare for a long ride, about an hour. If you need to go potty, tell me and I’ll find a place to stop, so let's get on the road!
“Yay! Ready Leaf?” asked the Fennekin. “We’re gonna have so much fun!”
“Yeah,” said Leaf. “I’m ready.” As the car backed up from the driveway, the Snivy was excited for his padded time with his friend, as the Delphox began to drive to their destination.
