Trying to compose music to go with some lyrics a friend did. This was the first 'sketch', but he didn't seem to like it so this'll probably not be used for that.

Hi again! =) I watched you so I can follow your work and comment as much as I waaaant ! ... >:3
I think the main problem about this song to get well along with lyrics is that the main part of the song could only be the intro. ... ... I mean:
All the songs go according to a pattern made of the bass, the piano doing the melody and stuff.
And ALL of this could be compressed into a 5-10 seconds of introduction !
If you want a song to go with lyrics, you have to clearly define an introduction and the ending that shall be quite the same for the singer to understand when it ends and the main part of the song something a bit more (even moar than here) different.
It is because it gets:
- boring
- repetitive
- you can't give to the persons listening the feeling the song goes forward. It's like you're looking at a picture: no movement. It's not an atmosphere song ! Do you get what I'm trying to mean?
Except for that, it's fun listening to this. I have the 85's creep coming back at me! :D

Cool, I love constructive comments like this one!
You bring up some very good points which I will keep in mind. The truth is, I have very little experience in making non-instrumental music, and my normal "workflow" doesn't work too well for this kind of thing. I guess with these kinds of songs I should also have a clearer concept of what I want the song to be like before starting work on it, instead of just kind of going with the flow and experimenting randomly as I do normally.
Thanks for the comments!

Let me demonstrate you by something I'm working on:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suwf.....eature=related
In this song, you have:
- the intro : 0:00 - 1:10
- The main theme : 1:10 - 2:59
- The ending/release : 2:59 - 4:02
See? =)
Now I let you think about it, it still was a nice song heh!
