Lol, he's supposed to be the lookout, but he just sits there watching Max eat. XD It must be a bizarre spectacle to just watch someone just endlessly stuffing their face; I think Martin's expression in panel 3 conveys that. =P

Well, apparently there wasn't that much activity going on around the farm that late at night, after they had taken care of the dog. But since Martin is Max's best friend he couldn't just leave him alone, so Martin continued to just sit there watching Max, until he got too tired and fell asleep.

hooray! my family loves cabbage. all except for me. i can eat asparagus, i can eat spinach but i will not each cabbage.

I don't think that dog will be scaring anything away anytime soon. He's probably to fat to get up, let alone walk. Love how big max is getting, and knowing him he'll probably be getting bigger.

Yep, you are right, that dog's belly is so full and heavy that he won't be able to move for many hours. And regarding Max, if he is going to eat all of that huge cabbage he will surely get a lot bigger! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I can't believe he's not getting a little full from that ginormous cabbage. Even he must have a limit to his capacity.

Max does probably feel more or less full, more likely the later, but Max loves to eat and stuff his belly as big and round as possible. Each day he eats a bit more than the day before. So his belly is getting more and more used to being stretched out. And the more it stretches the more it will hold. Also Max is so extremely focused on eating the entire cabbage that he doesn't bother thinking about how full he feels or how big his belly is getting. The only time he might, for a short second, realize that he might have overdone it this time is when he falls forward and lands on his belly and can't reach the ground with his feet. But then he notice that he has eaten over half of the cabbage, so why stop now?
