As an artist myself theres certain things i really appreciate on a ref, personality/likes/dislikes really help me if im given artistic freedom to draw a character as i learn stuff from the ref and that gives me ideas, so when i do refs. if im given some space, I really try and make the characters personality pop out. It just makes them more dynmaic and interesting to look at
