After Gremmel disappeared on a mission to Hermea Emerald, Fangrim, Kaplan, Nil, Snax and Sucil prepared to go on a rescue mission to get him back. Anizhar, worried about the... lacking diplomatic capabilities of the kobolds, decided to chaperone them, under a kobold disguise to fit in, naturally.
They would arrive through seemingly legitimate means and use Anizhar's disarming charm and silver tongue to get badges to mark them as legitimate dignitaries.
Or that was the plan before they were diverted into the private chambers of the leader of Hermea, Mengkare the gold dragon. After getting into a scuffle with the security golems protecting the chamber and stopping the kobolds from stealing magical books, they emerged to a beautiful vista of Hermea... And a mysterious Hermean agent who had a job to offer them.
The Hermean that waited for Anizhar and his team introduced herself as Emaliza. She explained that the council had concerns about Mengkare's grand plans. She found out that all the times their leader had told them he was going to Axis, the plane of law, he had actually been going to Katapesh and she wanted to know why.
Emaliza believed that the plan was detailed deep in the grand library, where Hermeans are magically forbidden from entering. Enter: Kobolds. In return for investigating the details of Mengkare's plans, Emaliza would personally arrange for Gremmel's freedom. Anizhar was only too happy to have an excuse to investigate Mengkare's grand plan, and perhaps finally meet him in person.
On their way to a tavern to grab a bite to eat and discuss their plans, Anizhar suggested that they should stop and get a change of clothes so they don't look out of place in the city. To that end, Emaliza took them to a clothier and had all of them (Minus Fangrim, who was anxious about the... 'dollhouse' nature of the city and eager to leave) fitted with fine color-coded togas made from the finest hermean fabric.
Anizhar was pleasantly surprised to find that the tailor asked for no coin. A city where one could simply take what they needed with no need for crass financial exchange? Anizhar would need to speak with Mengkare to compare notes.
