A silly entry for
Rage's Air-raid siren contest.
The challenge was to make a creature that would make the air-raid siren sound. From the beginning I had this silly idea. Turns out almost all the entries at this point in time took it all seriously.
All creepy and wierd critters.
No problem with that, but well, Im just silly and look for a chance to do something a lil out of the norm ;)

Yeah, I live in the U.S., Texas to be exact, and while they do go off when a tornado warning is issued(which isn't very often in the part of texas I live in), they also warn of chemical plant leaks or explosions since the town I live in has a lot of chemical palnts and oil refineries, like when the BP plant blew up last year and killed like 20 people and had this bigg explosion and released a gas cloud and the whole south side of the town had to be evacuated, so they test them every wednesday to make sure they work, and in schools we have fire drills and chemical spill drills like how and where to evacuate to and stuff... explosions are fairly rare, but leaks are somewhat common, so I am very familiar with the air raid siren*shudder*
My seven year old boy has a friend who's older and bit less well-adjusted than he. Anyway, he's almost nine years old and still has tempter tantrums like a two year old---my son rolls his eyes and shakes his head, sighing.
When this kid has his little tantrums, he belts out that moaning, pathetic (not pitiable at all, by the way!) cry that goes up and down in pitch and sounds just like a siren. Perhaps he ought to be sent to one of those ultra-poor tornado-prone communities in Alabama or Mississippi which can't afford tornado sirens like they can in Texas or Oklahoma.
Anyway, it's a really sweet picture, though I can't help but wonder why chibi-UV appears so happy to see the Luftwaffe of Nazi Germany carrying out a raid in the Battle of Britain . . . ?

You know, the fact that you worded out AIR RAID SIREN instead of trying to described the sound made me think of the stimpgators from Ren & Stimpy. The way they keep their mouths open as you hear the noises “Happy, happy. Joy, joy.” come from them.
Anyways, focus. Mini UV is cute as always (especially with her expression) and I think the artistic appearance of the sound cone looks pretty nice too. The plane silhouettes in the background are a nice touch and fitting for the siren.
Though I somehow imagine that Mini UV is calling the Air Raid Siren for planes that are simply passing overhead – just for the sake of causing mischief. ;)

God, I dunno why I haven't commented on it till now! This pic has something great in it! It seems to be lodged deep in my brain. Yeasterday I was walking with my friends to a bar and suddenly I began to make air raid siren sound (thinking of your pic of course), then I realized that is one of the best drawings that capture sounds I have ever seen! And it's so funny too :3 I like the way this "sound" goes out of her mouth... Whole pic looks like it's vector art :) nice and clean. (And if my comments annoy you please say so, I wont ever write any as long as this one :P)
"There goes the siren that warns of the air raid. Then comes the sound of the guns sending flak...".
Heh, this totally made me go grinning and smiling to myself. I have to agree with The_Dig that the "sound" is really present in the pic. I just have to think this cute high-pitched voice going up and down, like "eeEEeeEEeeEE"... *looks around all the accusing faces* sorry, I got little carried over ._.

Heheh great picture, makes me laugh imagining it. Didn’t think you mentioned it yet (:P though sometimes I suck at searching through things), but who ended up winning the competition? If you didn’t you should have got it for making something funny on top of being well done artistically.
