I am one of those people who says, "Lol." at inappropriate times. It's usually because I am not listening to what it is you have to say, but it is also because I really do find it funny when misfortune befalls others. Today I had a facebook chat, and it went pretty much like this:

Ryan: Ellie! What are you doing?!
Me: Feeding Henry, what's up?
Ryan: I just got hit by a car! This old lady hit me and drove away!
Me: Lol.
Ryan: At first I was fine, but I came home and now I feel a little woozy. But I can't afford a trip to the emergency room. RJ (his boyfriend,) isn't home, and I don't think I should drive myself. But I really can't afford to call an ambulance. Do you think you could maybe come get me? I'm starting to think I might have a concussion.
Me: Lol.
Ryan has signed out of chat.

Ryan is fine, by the way. Our friend Jess went and fetched him to the emergency room. Had I actually been paying attention to what he was typing instead of watching desperate houswives on Hulu and eating five ice cream sandwhiches, I would have taken him. But he is fine.
