Long nights had passed with only the soft whimpers of longing in the air. Mating calls, sent out to drift among the stars, unheeded and lost behind the brilliance of the moon. She knew it was her own failing, her frozen heart remaining still and silent for forever and a day, her golden tear stains a relic of past heartache, ever etched into her skin now; always. Tonight, bristling with alienation, she claims the moon as hers, a solace to fill her cracks. Like the rising sun, the moon would never falter to make debut, even when in shadow, the moon’s entity was known. This she could depend on, matching its barren and cold surface with her own psyche. Should this be her existence, so be it. She will protect her illusion with tooth and claw, choosing oblivion, choosing the moon. Let it’s soft, blue rays caress her soul. The moon is hers.
