It's not a trace! Which makes me extremely proud of myself!
So, I'm trying to get less afraid of doing art, and that means doing art. I was originally going to practice using Google images, since I'm practicing for personal projects, and those projects aren't furry-related... but then I saw those pecs and I thought "why not." I may do several more of these, but I got kind of worried that grabbing someone's art and uploading something that looks very similar may set off red flags... (hopefully Sonicgamer doesn't mind π¦)... so, uhh... if you're cool with me using any of your submissions for practice, please tell me so I can target you instead. π

I've used pictures as references before and what comes out is usually not very good, so I looked up some help on Youtube before trying this. It's probably basic stuff for all the more experienced artists around here, but things like "shapes" eluded me. Turns out, drawing simple shapes and forming a skeleton beforehand actually improves quality drastically.
I did some other, smaller, practice pictures before this one, and I'm noticing a trend where everything I draw turns out slightly bigger than intended. I don't know if it's subconscious or what.
Assorted Things Practiced Here:
- Fur effects (I really like how that tail came out)
- Hands, feet(paws), claws
- Muscle structure (however exaggerated)
- Some semblance of anatomical structure
- Canid facial structure
- Lines (learned a way of "tapering" lines while doing this)
- Conveying the third dimension
- Shape interaction (the pectorals laying against the abdominals and biceps, along with the hamstring hugging the calf)
