It varies from person to person...some folks are basically just 'renting' the characters, and can be very strict. Which is not something I agree with.
For adoptables like Yuuri's here, You pay the funds, she gives the full sized piccy of your adoptable, and for all intents and purposes, it is now your character to do with as you please.
