V-22 Osprey, EAA Oshkosh 2022
This Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey showed up to demonstrate its abilities to the attendees.
This aircraft has the ability to fly like a regular plane and operate like a helicopter. I talked with the pilot at the show. saying it has numerous redundancies to keep the aircraft flying. Saying that even if it lost an engine, the other can operate both massive propellers via a drive shaft between the wings. Plus the ability to internally carry 15,000 pounds of cargo.
it also flies faster, and farther than any helicopter, plus at a greater height.

A bit of a story, tangentially related to the Osprey.
Back when the Osprey was first being developed and deployed, a friend was organizing a tabletop RPG campaign based on "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." As I couldn't arrange to be a regular player, I offered to develop an ongoing villain and their schemes. I decided said villain would, among other bits, use something like an Osprey as their signature vehicle.

worked on both. it had range and speed yes. But was LOUD and range was accomplished by having to have a huge AUX fuel tank inside which negated room. WE could fit a HMMV inside the 53. Wed be lucky if we could fit a sidebyside inside the cv. The .50 cal damn near ripped the ramp off the pos. The airforce is obsessed with new shiny useless shit now. Look at how they are trying to replace the a10 with more craptastic systems. (looking at you f35) Im glad Im out.
No shots taken at you just had to vent lol
