tl;dr Failor can;t write for shit. Even Original Life? 'family friendly' my ass. also, he can't stick with one story line. he starts one and ends it without resolving it. He's an egotistical asshat who always thinks he's right, and if you try and give a calm, rational response to refute his claims, he blocks you.
Naylor pretty much summed up his stance on people that try to argue with him:

Surely the work of a calm, open-minded individual.

We can only hope. I'm a vehement supporter of the right to own and use guns, but even I felt a twinge of horror here.
No different than whipping out a set of keys and saying "I've got a really fast race car an I'm gonna drive it like a maniac," but sadly firearms are easier to abuse than vehicles.

Agreed. My main objection is to the response some people seem to have that this will automatically lead to tragedy. Despite some of the claims of the anti-gun lobby, that's not incredibly likely to happen, especially if the owner is taught how to use it - and how to respect it.
(Though on the bright side, if it *is* only a .25 or so, the odds go up that any accidents caused by idiocy will be non-fatal, and discourage future ones.)

First she was all ":D".
Then she was "):".
Sadly, this is what happens when people latch on to a "hero" - they starting emulating them. And this is especially powerful when it comes to kids. It's going to be realllllly hard for her to explain to him how dangerous Savage Squirrel' lifestyle is... and even then, he might not change his mind.

A couple years ago a man shot his (ex?)wife in the back of the head with a compact .25 or .32 ACP pistol through the headrest in her car. She didn't realize it, it never penetrated her hair weave. It has more energy than most pellet guns, but the larger, slower bullet tends to penetrate poorly. Quite a few of the old "ring of fire" junk pistols in similar calibers are incredibly weak.
Any firearm, even a pellet gun, has the potential, and probably has, to kill a person. People are dumb and sometimes, fatally, stupid and have killed themselves with blank guns, Bruce Lee's son on the set of Raven for example, although he was shot by an second person. Under the right circumstances and "gun" can do serious injury while under slightly different circumstances, a firearm can do less damage than it potentially should and not kill someone. Life is not 100% and chance has a lot to do with things. I think Youtube has a video of some gentlemen shooting a .50 cal rifle on a range at a steel target. You can see the shot, hear it hit the target, and see it as it comes back straight at the shooter only to hit him in the head, breaking his shooting glasses and ear protectors. Luckly, the bullet has lost enough enegy by the time it got back to the shooter that it was not fatal.
A .32 has the potential to kill, but it's unlikely, and certainly not a reliable way to stop someone. Many of the little micro-ACP pistols have less penetration than a .22lr, and without penetration, it's unlikely to pose a threat.
And yeah, I've seen that video, I believe MadOgre originally made it, and it's since been reposted dozens of times.

Scary as all get out, that kind of ricochet. And I agree, the round has a lot to do with lethality esp. if the user has little experiencewith the weapon. A light pistol like the .32 is a wounding weapon or as the old gunfighters used to say, "If you want to shoot someone, use a pistol. If you want to kill someone, use a shotgun." to paraphrase Wild West Tech... hehehe.
My father was an outstanding marksman. Even in his 60's, with glasses for his eyes, arthritis in his shoulders, and bursitis in his hands, he was able to out-shoot most of the younger policemen on the range (85th percentile in a department with almost three hundred uniformed officers). But as far as I know, he never drew his pistol throughout forty years behind a badge. He took the responsibility of preserving life very seriously.

This is exactly where it *should* end though. The mother should take the gun from her son, sit him down, and talk to him about what he should do *instead* of thinking that guns are the way to go. Maybe guns are needed sometimes, but they're not the solution, and no little kid should be toting one around anyway.
If she takes the time to get educated and get *him* educated in gun use, maybe talks to Savage and has him tell the kid what's what, things might not turn out too badly. If she just lets him walk around with a gun, shooting people he thinks are "bad" things are gonna go south real fast.

Sorry for the late comment. Have been reading the whole series but wanted to see how it ends before I fave it.
And I can really only say, your comic is brilliant. Lovable characters, way more realistic heros and more realistic villains than in the print comics, very well told and drawn and really good details.
