In honor of, any minute today, the final episode of "Animorphing Time" (covering book 54 and the end of the series) dropping, I found and scanned a comic that's been just sitting around for two years.
And JEEZ here's one of my favorite comic panels I've ever drawn.
SPOILERS.
(The yellow mustang presumably survived the final book in a Taxxon world museum or something. These characters (Tom, Jara Hamee, Rachel, Elfangor, and the Auxiliary Animorphs (the "disabled kids")) all die in either the first or last book. Elfangor presumably never saw his best friend again, and was possibly partly eaten by him. And the Ellimist's first book was him offering the Animorphs slots in a zoo to outlive the fall of earth. (It was all a trick.))
Yep, that's presumably side two of "Beggar's Banquet." "Street Fighting Man" and "Prodigal Son." Applegate is an admitted Rolling Stones fan, and references to them are scattered but there. (I was raised on them by a fan dad. I put Stones songs in every one of my Animorphs playlists.)
This Saturday, a guy who busked onstage after me did "Prodigal Son." It was kinda funny but reminded me that I'd drawn this. So now I remembered that I did this.
And that's the way for us to get along. Drawing cathartic Fixit happy ending comics. I mean, asking a Hork-Bajir for a back massage is an easy way to die, probably, but it's all fine.
