Thinking on the upcoming adoptable sets had me thinking back to this character who has been on and off the shelf for a while now, as I've been constantly tinkering with the design. Some folks may remember a character idea heavily inspired by the blue glaucus? Well, I've since deviated from that base design quite a bit, although nudibranchs and other sea invertebrates are still the primary sources of inspiration. I have, however, more or less settled on the idea for the character itself.
Called Adrias, he's a lesser demon in the "Desire" category. He loves trinkets and treasures, leaning a little more towards avarice, although he is by no means restricted to it - he's quite guilty of every facet of Desire. As he's still relatively low in rank, his ability to grant certain desires (such as particularly outstanding wealth or success) is a bit more limited, thus he's not well known outside of specific circles. So he's usually summoned by either college-level conjurers for practice or experiments or recreation, or just as another addition in the repertoire of a more experienced one. As most who summon him just see the "desire demon" label, he more often just gets summoned "for fun" rather than for wealth-related desires. But a deal's a deal, and as long as he gets something out of it, he is content to do the jobs he gets "hired" for. And perhaps eventually, he might be able to rank up a little. At least he's in a position to get some proper exchanges, not just minion drudgery, but it's hard work being a little lower on the totem pole.
As it is, I'm considering a degree of shapechanging is just part of the package, though as he's still relatively low rank, he isn't as fancy with it. Just adjustments to his core form. As it's been really hard for me to decide between bipedal, serpentine/naga/mer, or something with multiple lower limbs. Malleable gender is also something I've been considering. Or oscillating colors, like a cuttlefish. As for additional abilities outside of standard demon fare...Been toying with possibilities such as toxins or minor illusions/light effects, nothing super fancy at his current rank, but effective enough to be useful.
Currently things have finally more or less settled into place, as far as the design goes - at least enough for me to consider finally letting Adrias be an "active" character now. But things may still be subject to change in the future.
