Commission for
godzuki in a Lovecraftian theme, featuring his two characters. Done in SAI. Photo ref used for the cricket-bat-wielding arms.

To me, this image speaks of everything that's wrong with human-(or anthro-)monster relations. Look at the scene. The ghoul desperately leaps for a hug, only to be imminently smashed about the face with a cricket bat. Really, did anyone ever think about how little affection a ghoul gets? Really, all he wants to say is "did you ever stop to consider that I enjoy long walks through the graveyard, romantic dinners and playing Scrabble?" No. You didn't. You just saw his beady red eyes and pasty skin and undead visage and thought "OH SHIT KILL IT". It's just intolerant. And look at our tentacle beast there, how he smiles and reaches out to give a gentle massage. But he's about to be turned away with some kind of hoodoo symbol. Just because there were some "alleged" rape incidents with some Japanese schoolgirls doesn't mean that every tentacle monster just wants to get in your pants. Maybe some just want to discuss the works of Norman Mailer with you and watch chick flicks while eating icecream together. Did you ever stop to ask? I bet you didn't. You just went UGH IT'S SLIMEY FLEEEEEEEE.
Monsterism. It's everywhere. STOP TO THINK. /korrok's message of the day

Speaking from a gnollish point of view in all this, the tentacle beast's whole problem is that he's delicious when prepared properly. If he doesn't want people to go after him with cleavers and spices, he should work on that.
And that ghoul might not get the cricket bat so often if he picked up the check for ONE of those romantic dinners on occasion.

I had a gnoll ranger in a PbP 4e game that unfortunately imploded before the adventure started. She was a worshipper of Erathis (the goddess of civilization). She had to fight the urge to grin disarmingly, since non-gnolls understandably mistook her intentions: http://s13.directupload.net/images/.....0/e7xongog.jpg
Good image, but faving for the comment. So funny in a way, so true in another.
Though, knowing what the dietary preferences of one of Lovecraft's ghouls were, I'd have to decline the dinner invite. On the other hand, a friendly community of ghouls next door is probably the best thing to have in case of zombies.

Are you familiar with the stories of Simon Barber ( http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Si.....arber/Stories/ )? Most of them are set in a world where ghouls and other Lovecraftian horrors are a comforting part of everyday life, and the soul-destroying evils from beyond time are Smurfs and cute plushies. These two stories especially echo your sentiments - http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Si.....f_Cuteness.txt & http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Si.....er-brother.txt .
