Growing up we didn't have much money but luckily for us Tonka made cheaper Transformers call Gobots. The Command Center works as a walker/vehicle mech, but isn’t terribly exciting. The proportions are strong and it feels sturdy and playable.

I remember these and I do not remember sturdy they were flimsy but I know what you mean on the cash front guessing he-man was cheaper in comparison but my brother had transformers as had I later when my dads job started getting good.
I also remember the cartoon had an iron on from a cereal box on my shirt but in the end the transformers had a way better movie and for me it was more comic book than cartoon because of the time slot but did see gen 2 later and the sci fi channel helped too
