Scofflych was the son of a rich family in louisiana in the early 1900s. He was working as a city contract negotiator while dating the daughter of another rich family, a half-fae witch. Scoff unknowingly took up helping with a contract that would have removed ownership of the company his fiance's family ran. She did not take it well and, assuming backstabbing and infidelity, cursed him to become the "parasite" she accused him of being. He became a ghostly, soul-stealing, blood-drinking vampire-owl... thing, killing his own parents and the curse sinking his manor and land into an dark swamp.
