Thanks! This guy is surprisingly fun to draw, even if I haven't done much with him since this one. I also took a crack at drawing a Birdo (based off Buck Donner because of course), and I might try a Yoshi at some point.
Not really sure *why* I'm drawing random Super Mario fan characters when I have next to no experience with the franchise outside of hanging out with the roommate when he's playing Mario Kart and Mario Party and Mario Tennis and Mario Soccer and Mario Tax Preparation and whatnot, but it's fun.

Also, this is why people should read my descriptions, I sometimes hide goodies there.

DO A YOSHI OMFG!!! I love Yoshis, especially chonky ones!

Best thing about Yoshis is their dragon-like body shape, with those hips being on the sides of the torso, like Bowser's is too. :3

Lol Mario Tax Preparation. Probably involves giving all your coins to Bowser. xD;

But Mario charries are fun to draw regardless! Even if you don't really have much personal experience with the franchise. :3

You were far from the only one that suggested I try my hand at drawing a Yoshi, so I gave it a try...

I ended up basing this one off my donkey jackass-sona because it just seemed fitting, I probably could have made this a bit fatter too but I think I'm overall satisfied with it. Looks a bit older than the Yoshi in the modern games but I was looking at a few different refs from different eras and some of the design elements from the older designs of Yoshi seem to have worked their way into this too.
I'll post this... eventually.

Mario Tax Preparation seems like it could be a parody game--Mario has been collecting all these coins all these years, has he been paying his income taxes to the Mushroom Kingdom?

I read that as "cherries" at first lol. I've always felt kinda weird about drawing fan art for franchises I don't have much personal experience with, like that makes me a "poser" or something, if that makes sense... But these have been fun experiments!
I've also been watching the roommate play Splatoon 3, and for some reason I've taken a liking to the design of one of the common enemies from the Salmon Run mode, so maybe at some point I'll draw a big dumb fish with hair and a frying pan!

Thanks! I'll probably post the Yoshi soon too, although it's probably my least-favorite of the three "draw my characters but as Mario characters" things I've done so far--gotta say, the Koopa is still my favorite, but it's been fun to experiment so far.

Drawing fan art stuff (or, in this case, just reimagining some of my characters in the style of other franchises) has been good practice and an excuse to try some new things. Birdo and Yoshi in particular made me stop and think about eye placement and how to draw eyes that stick out/up from the head, and I don't do an awful lot with reptiles in general so it's been good practice drawing non-mammal characters.

Also, it turns out the fish enemy I was talking about is called a "Cohock"... I don't draw many fish, either, so that was good practice too!

Yeah, Koopas are definitely fun!! Big chonky bois ANYway~
