Yesterday I visited the ancient westgerman city of Trier.
Catedral St. Peter in Trier. The sign reads:
"The Cathedral
Motherchurch of the diocese of Trier.
Cathedral of the bischop of Trier.
The bishop and the clerics of the cathedral chapter welcome you at the portal of Germanys oldest bishop church.
This house of god is a unique testimony of western history and culture. From roman times to the modern age have generations contributed to its "Unity in diversity".
The cathedral is at the same time a symbol of the "Church of living stones" on its way through time. For more than 1600 years faitfull humans have come here to pray to god, hear his good news and first and foremost gather strength from the holy communion, that Jesus Christ gave at his last supper, for their duties in this world."
