Yesterday I visited the ancient westgerman city of Trier.
Some Karl Marx merch. I was interested in the piggy bank in bust form, titles "The Capital", but the shop was closed.

Have you actually read his books? The Capital? The Communist Manifesto? He predicted much of the mess our society is in today 150 years ago. He was a great political philosopher and I highly recommend you to actually engage with his work instead of regurgitating the same old "Hurr Durr, Socialism evil" Propaganda crap.
So had a maid, not only boned her but then treated her son he helped bring into the world as if he didn't matter. Even going as far to have a friend claim the kid was his so he wouldn't be treated different. He was also racist, often referring negatively to Jews and people of color in racist slurs. This isn't propaganda it's even in his own writings. He was a plagiarist and a hypocrite, Friedrich Engels wrote around 1/3 of the news articals Marx put his name to. I'd post his remarks on race here, but they are strong enough to get anyone quickly banned as they should be if they were to agree with his statements.
A quote from someone who knew him

"He gave me the impression of both outstanding intellectual superiority and a most impressive personality. If he had had as much heart as brain, as much love as hate, I would have gone through fire with him despite the fact that he not only did not hide his contempt for me, but as the end was quite explicit about it …
I regret, because of our cause, that this man does not have, together with his outstanding intelligence, a noble heart to place at our disposal. I am convinced that everything good in him has been devoured by the most dangerous personal ambitions. He laughs at the fools who repeat after him his proletarian catechism, just as he laughs at [other] communists … and also at the bourgeoisie …
Despite all of his assurances to the contrary, perhaps precisely because of them, I left with the impression that personal domination is the end-all of his every activity … And [Marx considers that] all of his old associates are, despite their considerable talents, well beneath and behind him and should they ever dare to forget that, he will put them back in their places with the impudence worth of a Napoleon."
I suppose great can mean many things, he was a great hypocrite, a great dead beat dad, a great egotistical power hungry monster who sadly left the world with to many people believing in something even he himself laughed at.
