Went to a Saint Vincent DePauls yesterday with my mom (shes an eBay seller crazy person) and came across a very nice looking, if old, lens! Never heard of the brand but it looked good, like it might fit my camera. I tried it out on my camera and sure enough it fit and worked! =D
Its a Performance Optics 80-200mm f/4.5 with the ability to shoot macro at 1:5. I cant find any information on it online. I can only use it in full manual, it uses a sliding barrel to zoom and focus, both. I think it works great. This is a sample macro image from it. A UV filter was attached to it still.
The best part, I got it for $12!!!
May be moved to scraps soon.
What I did: Flash white balance and thats it. I wanted the lens to speak for itself.

Aha. You'd be surprised what you can often find, and the best thing about going with the mid-range prosumer cameras is that you can use the manual lenses :)
I've got a pair of old telephotos that I was able to use on my D80, though frankly my 70-200 beats them out of the water so they don't actually see much use :)
