Images can contain rotation metadata that sometimes gets processed, sometimes doesn't. And sometimes it gets updated, and sometimes it doesn't. So yeah, buggy software will show some images rotated in the wrong orientation.

Wait, did I just call FA buggy software? Perish the thought.
