Episode 18: The Ancient Gate!
War of Darkness and Light!
Tyson, Cynder and Ignitus were flying back into Avalar City's airspace after retrieving the Fire Key, following the beams of light. Rick, Sophie and all the others were also just now arriving as well and they spot Digit flying above Main Street.
"Tyson, look there! The Tower!" Cynder said. Sure enough, the lights from the statues that everybody discovered were all meeting at the same point, the top of the same tower that Tyson played that lullaby for Cynder at weeks ago.
"Digit!"
"Yes Sir." Digit opened the drop hatch below Tyson and then triggered into his Dragon Form. Now Tyson recognizes the tower, months before Cynder and the others arrived a huge storm snapped the antenna clean off. Tyson flew up under the point where the lights crisscrossed one another and then he got a brilliant idea, he took Royal Legacy and placed it in the center of the merging beams. Suddenly the blade surged with the elements and a beam shot straight out and hit the ocean but nothing was happening then he remembered the antenna was always pointing at the mountains just west of the city. He turned toward the mountains and the beam angled downward, all the way over at the mountains the focused beam struck an insignia hidden in the rock.
When the beams disappeared it was eerily quiet, suddenly the mountain began to shake…a deep rumbling grew louder as the mountain seemed to shake apart. Massive chunks of rock break apart and slide off or collapse…
"No….way……." A huge tower rose out from under the mountain, long forgotten ruins rose back to life, walls adorned with dragon statues and a huge chamber rumbled out of its hiding place.
As Tyson and the team are heading there, everyone even the Chronicler, was amazed that such an important part of their world's past was hidden on a separate world.
"Wow, this must be the temple that my sister told us about when she was Dark Cynder. Then the Master Core Orb must have been hidden here!" Cynder said. As they open the crumbling doors they are shocked to find nothing…nothing but a strange door…
"You….YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!!" Tyson rips off the stone door off its hinges and flings it across the room, "WE RISKED OUR LIVES TO FIND THIS PLACE AND ALL WE GET IS A USELESS DOOR!!!"
"No…this has not been in vain…this door…is the door to the past I have been searching for, for countless centuries I have been looking in the wrong place." Chronicler said.
"Wait, a door to the past?" Cynder asked.
"Yes, it was created by the very first Guardians. For what purpose, I don't know…perhaps to find the Master Core Orb's hiding place?" Chronicler said. Tyson dashed past them and tried to pry the doors open but it wouldn't budge, "I figured as much, I assume we all have retrieved the Ancient Keys?" Everyone held out the Keys they found, "Ignitus, Terrador, Cyril, Volteer; take your corresponding Keys and present them to the door."
As Ignitus and the others take their Keys, the jewels lit up in response to their elemental powers. When they walked toward the door, indentations began to glow red, blue, green and yellow; as they inserted each Key the sound of locks thudding free.
"This door is a passageway into the past of our world, but it can also lead into the UnderRealm a prison dimension for all the evil beings Spyro and Cynder as well as every other dragon before them have defeated. If you focus and concentrate your powers around yourselves you should make it through safely." Chronicler said.
"Wait…SHOULD? What do you mean by that?" Tyson asked.
"You and Cynder are the only ones who can survive the immense forces within the Gate. You are the strongest of our team members; therefore you are the only ones who can safely pass through the Gate." He explained.
"So it's just gonna be us huh…" Cynder said. The last of the Keys were put in place and the sound of locks unlatching and the door groaning open, a burst of wind nearly blew them away.
"YOU MUST FIND THE CORRECT TIME PERIOD; THERE YOU WILL HOPEFULLY DISCOVER THE LOCATION OF THE MASTER CORE ORB. GO NOW!" Tyson and Cynder leapt into the swirling vortex and as the giant doors close Flame tries to run after them but Chronicler stopped him.
"We have to go with them!"
"We can't…"
"Why not?" Flame bared his fangs.
"Because they are the strongest of our group, if any of us enter it…we would be destroyed almost instantaneously. I have foreseen this…the two chosen ones enter the gate…but their fate is unknown…all we can do now is wait…and protect this place from Red…May the spirits of the Ancestors guide the both of you…"
Inside the gate Tyson and Cynder are zooming by seeing images of past events in both Avalon and Earth, soon a strange feeling began to wash over Tyson as they reach their time destination. When the light faded the whole landscape was razed, trees either on fire or discombobulated into millions of splinters, the sky and even the clouds were an ominous fire touched orange, the sign of a massive battle underway. Cynder looks through some fallen trees and spots the Sky Fortress as it was before, part of the Royal Dragons Castle that was at the heart of Warfang the dragon city and a huge war taking place at the front gates between the dragons and Malefor's army.
"Tyson we made it. Now let's hurry and…..Tyson?" Cynder says as she looks back to see him crackling with energy, popping back and forth between his human and dragon forms before finally remaining in his dragon form, "Tyson…what was that about? Using up the energy you need to transform…"
"…..Cynder….It's not just Tyson you're talking to…"
"Wha….Sp….Spyro?!"
"Huh? Spyro? Whats going on?!"
"Tyson? Ok, now I'm confused…."
"I think I know…" Spyro said, "I think it may be because we're back home, the energy surrounding us is giving us unlimited energy to stay transformed….Oy, so now its both me and Spyro kicking badguy ass, it's a welcome boost." Triggered Tyson said.
"Ok, the both of you are giving me a horn-ache can we just get going!!!" Cynder whined. The battle was in full force, Grublins swarming towards the gate, dragons blasting them with their breath attacks and cannons but the King and Malefor are nowhere to be seen.
"Guys, we gotta get into Warfang, the temple we found is in there." Cynder says.
"Yeah but if we fly in we'll be shot at….If this is still the same Warfang that we have in our time then the ancient tunnels should still be here, we can use them to get in."
"Ok follow me, WAHH!!" A horde of Grublins circled them; these ones are way different than the modern day ones. It took longer than expected for them to get through them all and get to the outside entrance of the tunnels…
"Whew…is it me…or were those Grublins stronger than normal…damn I think one of them tried to bite my tail…" Tyson said.
"It's probably because we're in the ancient past, these Grublins are far stronger and they use Dark Magic unlike their distant descendants…I think we gotta step it up a bit…" Cynder joked, egging Tyson and Spyro on.
"Heh, alright then, first things first we have to get inside Warfang and since you and Spyro are the ones who know this place inside out I'm gonna let Spyro take the driver's seat for this part….whoa, ok that feels weird…"
"Heh, good to have you back Spyro." Cynder cooed.
"It's good to be back too now let's hurry, we don't have much time. We have to find the temple and the Master Core soon!" As Spyro and Cynder head deeper into the tunnels a titanic battle of massive proportions was taking place above them.

Two massive dragons are duking it out in the field in front of Warfang, The King in his Ultimate Dragon mode and Malefor! The harnessing the power of all elements the King fires a blast with near the power of a nuke at Malefor who counters with an equally powerful blast!
"FACE IT BROTHER! YOU'LL NEVER STOP ME FROM DESTROYING THE WORLD!" Malefor roared.
"WRONG, IT IS BECAUSE OF THAT THAT MAKES ME UNABLE TO LOSE! YOU WILL FALL AND BE BANISHED FOREVER!" The King roared back. Just as Spyro and Cynder exit the tunnels Spyro stops and glances toward the King….
"Dad…." Malefor crashed the King into the wall that Spyro was standing on, smashing it to rubble and dropping Spyro into the battle. The giant Malefor snaps at him but Spyro quickly dashes side to side, blasting Malefor in the eyes giving the King the chance to shove him off. Malefor roars and blasts Dark Flames at Spyro and just then Tyson jumped in and joined Spyro in the driver seat causing their power to increase. With a single hand a stream of fire holds Malefor's attack off and with the other they blast another stream of fire which pierces Malefors attack and blows in his mouth. The King charges, his power flowing around him as he collides with Malefor and takes off to the stars, heading straight to Earth as they learned they would in the present day.
Spyro returns to Cynder who promptly smacks him upside the head.
"Hey what was that for?" he asked.
"Don't you know you could've easily changed our future doing that?!" Cynder snapped.
"Huh…hey I didn't know…I just got caught in the middle of it…" Spyro said.
"If we get any more involved here then it could change our entire future: me and Spyro could never meet, the King loses this fight and Malefor destroys the world easily. Let's just find the temple and get back home." She says.
Spyro nods as Tyson takes the driver seat, "I'll take it from here Spyro. Let's go Cynder, I have no idea how much time we have." As Tyson and Cynder fly toward the center of Warfang a familiar white dragon follows them….
After a while of flying they soon pass over the main castle and spot a purple dragoness fleeing from a horde of enemies, at the same time Spyro begins to try and highjack their body, trying to dive down to the dragoness…
"WE HAVE TO SAVE HER!! THAT'S MY MOTHER DOWN THERE, LET'S GO!!!" Spyro screams.
"Spyro listen, you know we can't. If we save her then your egg will never have to be kept sealed, you and I will never meet, I would still be Malefor's slave and he would be resurrected sooner than before and destroy everything." She explains.
"Listen to her Spyro, I know it sounds coldhearted but it's the one thing Chronicler warned us about as we were flying to the temple in our own time in our minds…" A flashback in Spyro's mind brings up the moment…
"Listen both of you…when you arrive in the past you must fight the urge to change ones fate. Doing so will keep our world as we know it intact, but even if the slightest alteration to ones fate was made it will have devastating effects in our time…"
Spyro clenched his eyes shut as everyone heard her final scream…only Cynder saw her body fade and her Core Orb rise into the clouds and vanish….
"Spyro…." She whispers.
"It's ok….lets hurry…we're almost to the temple." As they flew off Cynder couldn't help but feel as if the Queen had spotted them…she wondered if she was disappointed that her son from the future couldn't do a thing to save her….
Meanwhile back at the battlefield the King and Malefor crash back from Earth, both worse for wear. Malefor had a huge hole in his chest, which must have been how a fragment of Malefor's whole Core Orb ended up on Earth while the rest of him came back here.
"Face it brother, you have lost everything! Your Queen, your kingdom, and soon your unhatched child! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" he cackled!
"Spyro…"
Tyson and Cynder finally reach the top of the temple only to see the original Guardians, the present day Guardians fathers, standing on four insignias in a square formation with all the Core Orbs floating above them in a circle and the Gate wide open, the natural four elements, Fire, Earth, Electricity and Ice float down and enter….IGNITUS AND THE OTHER GUARDIANS!!! In this time they're just little kids and when the Core's fully enter them they are led away, the remaining Core's are sent into the Gate as it is sealed and the original Guardians fade away.
"No…where's the Master Core?! ARHG, IT'S GONE! It was probably thrown into the Gate before we got here and now it's hidden somewhere in time!" Tyson groaned.
"Actually that's not at all true." Tyson and Cynder spin around to find a young white dragon standing in the doorway, looking closer they realize it's the Chronicler but much younger.
"Uhhhh….what do you mean kid?" Tyson said.
"I mean that what you seek isn't exactly what you think it is. This place is home of the 9 Stars of the Dragons and they have a saying, it goes like "When the 9 Stars unite the Great Star shall be born". Why do you need this 'Master Core'?" he asked.
"Cynder, a word in private." Tyson pulls her aside and whispers, "If this kid is supposed to be our Chronicler then how come our guy has never told us this? He's always known something about the Master Core…"
"Actually no, I don't think he actually knows what it is. The dragons of this time think it's actually a symbolic item rather than the Ultimate Core Orb…but to them it's just a…myth…"
"Though I should tell you that such a unison has never happened. Not even the Guardians could unite the Stars so in truth the Great Star is only a myth, a legend never proven. Say…you, the male…you look strikingly similar to the King! But how?"
"Sorry guy but we gotta get outta here!" Tyson summons Oracion and jabs a single light sword into the ground in front of the young Chronicler and temporarily blinds him, when his sight returns Tyson and Cynder are long gone.
Tyson and Cynder are racing back to where they came in when suddenly Tyson clutches his heart and drops out of the sky and crashes onto the walkway of the frontal wall of Warfang.
"Tyson what's wrong?" Cynder shrieks.
"Gah…it….it's Spyro…something's happening to him…gah…it feels like he's fading….away…!!" he groans. Just then Malefor gains the upperhand against the King, ramming his head through the wall of the Hatchery where….Spyro's egg is kept!
"Look! Look at your only unhatched child as its egg is shattered, the moment the barrier protecting it is broken your resolve shall vanish!"
Just then Tyson's Dragon Trigger canceled as the barrier around Spyro's egg is failing, "Ahhh, Cynder we gotta save Spyro's egg!"
"But what if someone else is supposed to save him? What if that person is vital to keeping our time as it is?" Cynder said.
"ARRRG, NOW'S NOT THE TIME FOR THAT! MESSED UP FUTURE OR NOT IF SPYRO'S EGG IS DESTROYED THEN THERE WON'T BE A FUTURE!!!"
Just as the barrier around Spyro's egg is broken Malefor raises a titanic paw and brings it down before the King could stop him. But then Malefor jerks his paw back up, roaring in pain, the King looks down at the Hatchery and sees a strange creature holding up a huge sword and a black dragoness protecting his son's egg.
"Who are you? What do you want with my child's egg?!" the King demanded.
Tyson just smirked, he and Cynder decided not to say their names before jumping in, Tyson turns to Cynder, "Hurry, grab the egg and get it to safety. I'll stay here and buy you some time!"
"What? Who are you?" the King asked again.
"Let's just say…we're allies in the same fight far FAR away!" Tyson takes a fighting stance as Malefor recovers from the new hole in his paw!
"Raahhhh, you think that such a puny being can help you defeat me? You are a fool brother!!!" Malefor cackled. Tyson wrapped a bandana around his head and his scarf tail around his mouth.
"Yeah, well you're gonna find that I'm pretty damn hard to beat and your gonna be in some pretty damn lotta pain when we get through with you!" Tyson shouted!
[Greatest Battle Music of All Times: Dragon Rider]
Tyson dashes down the wall and across the huge battle field, rushing through the hordes of enemies slicing and dicing as Malefor drops one of his paws. Tyson leaps and soars through the air and slashes his paw away, Tyson manages to land on Malefor's back, he races along it stabbing and slashing at his back as he makes his way to Malefor's face, Malefor turns his head and begins charging his attack just as Tyson leaps and uppercuts him in the chin, forcing him to fire his blast into the sky. Then Tyson lands on his snout and proceeds to slash and slice Malefor's face to hell!!! Malefor reels back as Tyson leaps backward just when the King charges forward and rams into Malefor's chest sending his 60 foot tall multi ton bulk scraping across the field.
As the fight continues Tyson can feel Spyro returning as Cynder gets farther away from the fight, the King charges Malefor again and they go at it claw to claw, at one swipe their claws connected and one of the King's claws broke off and Tyson remembered what Ignitus said about Royal Legacy; how it was forged from the only remaining remnant of the King, a single claw that had broken off in his final battle. Tyson dashed toward them again but this time he spotted a child dragon stranded in the battle field, the King and Malefor's brawl began to get too close to the child and he wasn't gonna make it in time! He closed his eyes and willed himself to go faster, Malefor's front paw was about to crush the child only to be stopped cold by Tyson, straining to keep the massive paw up. Off in the distance the young Chronicler gasped as he spots Tyson holding up Malefor's giant paw under his own strength, Tyson was beginning to get pushed into the ground, the earth crumbling under his feet but he pushed back harder and harder.
Malefor chuckles but his humor stops abruptly as a rainbow colored glow began to shine out from underfoot, Tyson was glowing all the colors of the elements signifying that Spyro was now completely safe and his spirit was returning to Tyson, with a mighty roar Tyson blew back Malefor's paw up higher than his head.
"Good to have you back buddy." "Good to be back now let's finish this fight!" Tyson runs toward Malefor who was about to slam down his paw but Tyson jumped so fast that he was already up in his face before he could slam it down, with one swing Tyson sends Malefor sliding into the nearby mountain face as the King charges in hooks him with his horns and hurls him into the air. Both the King and Tyson followed Malefor up into the air before smashing him downward with one synchronized hit.
"What…how can that puny insect be so powerful?!" Malefor wheezed. As Tyson floated down to the ground he actually ends up landing on the King's snout, he looks back and the King only nods and Tyson knows exactly what to do. The King charges and holds Malefor back as he charges his attack, Tyson leaps up and wraps Thundus around Malefor's main horn and yanks back.
"Wait, what are you doing?" the King asked as he charged his attack.
"The gaping hole in his chest!!! It goes right to his weak spot, BLAST IT!!!!" The King roared as he opened his maw wider and with a mighty eruption unleashed his attack as Tyson leapt up from behind Malefor's head and with Royal Legacy in hand at the exact same time that the King unleashed his blast Tyson plunged his sword through Malefor's forehead just as the blast rips through Malefor's chest.
"WELCOME TO HELL JACKASS!!!!" And in a bright flash the rainbow colored beam tore a hole right through Malefor's back.
Tyson leapt off as Malefor lurched backwards in a heap, he landed in a way that the Royal Legacy that was still in his forehead was right in front of the sunset, he held out his hand and Legacy came flying back, after he caught it the King; still in his Ultimate form loomed over Tyson.
"I thank you for your astounding bravery and courage, warrior. I would be honored to learn the name of such a powerful warri………" A sudden chill stopped the King midsentence, he turns his head to see…Malefor, still breathing after such a blow…
"See….hissss….I told you brother….I HAVE BECOME IMMORTAL!!!!! YOU HAVE FAILED, YOUR KINGDOM, THIS WORLD AND EVERYTHING THAT OPPOSES ME IS DOOMED!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!" Malefor laughs madly and insanely as he summons more of his dark forces.
The King darts his eyes side to side before glancing back toward his kingdom, with a solemn look he closes his eyes…knowing full well what he must do now…

With a powerful pump of his gargantuan wings he blows Tyson back into the frontal walls, when he recovers he sees the King begin to do what the data file said he did.
Time seemed to move slowly as the King began to gather all of his power, using his wings to collect the energy a white light began to shine around him, Tyson made one glance at the Kings face…and there wasn't any fear or sadness…it was looked like he was actually at peace with himself.
"Malefor…you've never understood what it meant to be one who everyone looks to for guidance, for understanding. All that you understand is power and using that power to terrorize innocents; that is why Mother and Father chose me over you, it wasn't because I was their favorite child it was because I have lived like them, because I tended to crops, experienced the hardships the people of our world have outside the world of royalty. I knew what their life was like because I have lived the same…this world has never needed a tyrant…what it needed was one who could lead it to a bright and wonderful future. So here…at this field…the War of Darkness and Light shall end…if you were half the dragon I am then you would know I would that I will give my life to protect my people, my family, my friends without hesitation! NOW, WITH ALL THE POWER IN EVERY CELL OF MY BEING, I BANISH YOU AND YOUR EVIL ARMY TO THE DEPTHS OF THE UNDERREALM, YOUR BODY AND SOUL SHALL FOREVER BE SEALED AWAY SEPARATELY, FAR APART FROM ONE ANOTHER. GO NOW KNOWING THAT IF THEY SHOULD FALL THERE WILL BE HUNDREDS MORE TO TAKE THEIR PLACE AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS AFTER THEM TO OPPOSE YOU! FAREWELL MY FORMER BROTHER…." With a whip of his head a beam of dimensional energy blasted forth, cutting a hole right to the UnderRealm. The vortex pulled all of Malefor's army into it like a blackhole, Malefor straining to free himself from the vortex, his very soul began to be ripped from his body and as its fully separated and sucked into the vortex his soul and body are pulled away in different directions.
As the vortex closes the King's body began to shine bright white and blinded everyone…everyone but Spyro who appeared as a see-through shadow. He looked up and saw his father's body slowly disappear, "Father…."
"My son…I only hope that one day you will find it in your heart to forgive me. To forgive me for never being there to see you hatch, for not being there when you take your first step or have your first flight, to help train you when the day Malefor resurrects and to fight by your side. The day you hatch I hope you are surrounded by friends and a family, when you come of age I hope that you find my 'crown' and claim your birthright…Forgive me……Spyro…my son…"
"I already have a long time ago…Dad…" The King opened his eyes and looked back at Tyson and as his head begins to fade away, his eyes go wide as he sees Spyro, bonded with Tyson and sees their true form, their Triggered form.
"Ah, my son….son…son…………" The last thing to fade away was his left eye and as it did so he gently closed it, sighing contently and at peace before vanishing completely. While the entire area was blinded Cynder swooped in and carried Tyson off to where they came in.
After the light faded Tyson and Cynder stood in front of the Gate, facing the empty field where the King gave his life, Cynder put Tyson's arm over her shoulder and held him close, knowing what became of him in the future.
"Well it looks like we've become a part of history anyway but we still didn't find out where the Master Core Orb is hidden." Tyson said as they walk to the Gate.
"Still…that riddle the kid Chronicler said…it keeps nagging at me…what if it does have something to do with the Master Core?" Cynder said.
"I don't think that stars are the key to finding it…but at least we know that it really doesn't exist so 1. Red doesn't have a power source to run his Malefor wannabe robot and 2. It does make him a whole lot easier to beat him for good. Now let's get back home and find a way to locate him." Tyson triggers not knowing that the young Chronicler was watching them and saw Tyson transform into a dragon before leaping into the Gate followed by Cynder.
"I may not know who you are but I will be certain in making all of future generations know of you…Dragon of Light and Dragoness of Darkness."
Now back on their way home through the Gate out of nowhere bolts of frighteningly evil and powerful energy surged through the Gate, threatening to tear it apart!!!
"So you are the ones who truly believe you can defeat me. What utter foolishness and pitiful bravado…"
"What the?! Where are you? Show yourself so I can kick your ass!!!" Tyson snarled.
"I am beyond the reach of your planets moon and beyond your insignificant feeble power to even stand in my presence but you have proven to be stronger than anticipated time and again so you must be disposed off posthaste!!" The moment the booming voice ended that sentence, bolts of pure evil struck Tyson and Cynder, pulling them away from each other and with one mighty surge the bolts shocked them unconscious and they were flung into the walls of the Gate and both of them vanished…
"Now nothing stands in my way of having my revenge…you hear that…FATHER…your time draws near…hahahahahahaMWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!"
A mysterious new enemy whose powers are of unheard viciousness has reared its terrible power and Tyson and Cynder were its first targets! Tossing them into the walls separating them from the evil infested UnderRealm. What role does this heartless monster play in this fight, who is its "Father" and why does it want him dead, what has become of Tyson and Cynder? It's getting down to the wire so stay tuned to find out!

War of Darkness and Light!
Tyson, Cynder and Ignitus were flying back into Avalar City's airspace after retrieving the Fire Key, following the beams of light. Rick, Sophie and all the others were also just now arriving as well and they spot Digit flying above Main Street.
"Tyson, look there! The Tower!" Cynder said. Sure enough, the lights from the statues that everybody discovered were all meeting at the same point, the top of the same tower that Tyson played that lullaby for Cynder at weeks ago.
"Digit!"
"Yes Sir." Digit opened the drop hatch below Tyson and then triggered into his Dragon Form. Now Tyson recognizes the tower, months before Cynder and the others arrived a huge storm snapped the antenna clean off. Tyson flew up under the point where the lights crisscrossed one another and then he got a brilliant idea, he took Royal Legacy and placed it in the center of the merging beams. Suddenly the blade surged with the elements and a beam shot straight out and hit the ocean but nothing was happening then he remembered the antenna was always pointing at the mountains just west of the city. He turned toward the mountains and the beam angled downward, all the way over at the mountains the focused beam struck an insignia hidden in the rock.
When the beams disappeared it was eerily quiet, suddenly the mountain began to shake…a deep rumbling grew louder as the mountain seemed to shake apart. Massive chunks of rock break apart and slide off or collapse…
"No….way……." A huge tower rose out from under the mountain, long forgotten ruins rose back to life, walls adorned with dragon statues and a huge chamber rumbled out of its hiding place.
As Tyson and the team are heading there, everyone even the Chronicler, was amazed that such an important part of their world's past was hidden on a separate world.
"Wow, this must be the temple that my sister told us about when she was Dark Cynder. Then the Master Core Orb must have been hidden here!" Cynder said. As they open the crumbling doors they are shocked to find nothing…nothing but a strange door…
"You….YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!!" Tyson rips off the stone door off its hinges and flings it across the room, "WE RISKED OUR LIVES TO FIND THIS PLACE AND ALL WE GET IS A USELESS DOOR!!!"
"No…this has not been in vain…this door…is the door to the past I have been searching for, for countless centuries I have been looking in the wrong place." Chronicler said.
"Wait, a door to the past?" Cynder asked.
"Yes, it was created by the very first Guardians. For what purpose, I don't know…perhaps to find the Master Core Orb's hiding place?" Chronicler said. Tyson dashed past them and tried to pry the doors open but it wouldn't budge, "I figured as much, I assume we all have retrieved the Ancient Keys?" Everyone held out the Keys they found, "Ignitus, Terrador, Cyril, Volteer; take your corresponding Keys and present them to the door."
As Ignitus and the others take their Keys, the jewels lit up in response to their elemental powers. When they walked toward the door, indentations began to glow red, blue, green and yellow; as they inserted each Key the sound of locks thudding free.
"This door is a passageway into the past of our world, but it can also lead into the UnderRealm a prison dimension for all the evil beings Spyro and Cynder as well as every other dragon before them have defeated. If you focus and concentrate your powers around yourselves you should make it through safely." Chronicler said.
"Wait…SHOULD? What do you mean by that?" Tyson asked.
"You and Cynder are the only ones who can survive the immense forces within the Gate. You are the strongest of our team members; therefore you are the only ones who can safely pass through the Gate." He explained.
"So it's just gonna be us huh…" Cynder said. The last of the Keys were put in place and the sound of locks unlatching and the door groaning open, a burst of wind nearly blew them away.
"YOU MUST FIND THE CORRECT TIME PERIOD; THERE YOU WILL HOPEFULLY DISCOVER THE LOCATION OF THE MASTER CORE ORB. GO NOW!" Tyson and Cynder leapt into the swirling vortex and as the giant doors close Flame tries to run after them but Chronicler stopped him.
"We have to go with them!"
"We can't…"
"Why not?" Flame bared his fangs.
"Because they are the strongest of our group, if any of us enter it…we would be destroyed almost instantaneously. I have foreseen this…the two chosen ones enter the gate…but their fate is unknown…all we can do now is wait…and protect this place from Red…May the spirits of the Ancestors guide the both of you…"
Inside the gate Tyson and Cynder are zooming by seeing images of past events in both Avalon and Earth, soon a strange feeling began to wash over Tyson as they reach their time destination. When the light faded the whole landscape was razed, trees either on fire or discombobulated into millions of splinters, the sky and even the clouds were an ominous fire touched orange, the sign of a massive battle underway. Cynder looks through some fallen trees and spots the Sky Fortress as it was before, part of the Royal Dragons Castle that was at the heart of Warfang the dragon city and a huge war taking place at the front gates between the dragons and Malefor's army.
"Tyson we made it. Now let's hurry and…..Tyson?" Cynder says as she looks back to see him crackling with energy, popping back and forth between his human and dragon forms before finally remaining in his dragon form, "Tyson…what was that about? Using up the energy you need to transform…"
"…..Cynder….It's not just Tyson you're talking to…"
"Wha….Sp….Spyro?!"
"Huh? Spyro? Whats going on?!"
"Tyson? Ok, now I'm confused…."
"I think I know…" Spyro said, "I think it may be because we're back home, the energy surrounding us is giving us unlimited energy to stay transformed….Oy, so now its both me and Spyro kicking badguy ass, it's a welcome boost." Triggered Tyson said.
"Ok, the both of you are giving me a horn-ache can we just get going!!!" Cynder whined. The battle was in full force, Grublins swarming towards the gate, dragons blasting them with their breath attacks and cannons but the King and Malefor are nowhere to be seen.
"Guys, we gotta get into Warfang, the temple we found is in there." Cynder says.
"Yeah but if we fly in we'll be shot at….If this is still the same Warfang that we have in our time then the ancient tunnels should still be here, we can use them to get in."
"Ok follow me, WAHH!!" A horde of Grublins circled them; these ones are way different than the modern day ones. It took longer than expected for them to get through them all and get to the outside entrance of the tunnels…
"Whew…is it me…or were those Grublins stronger than normal…damn I think one of them tried to bite my tail…" Tyson said.
"It's probably because we're in the ancient past, these Grublins are far stronger and they use Dark Magic unlike their distant descendants…I think we gotta step it up a bit…" Cynder joked, egging Tyson and Spyro on.
"Heh, alright then, first things first we have to get inside Warfang and since you and Spyro are the ones who know this place inside out I'm gonna let Spyro take the driver's seat for this part….whoa, ok that feels weird…"
"Heh, good to have you back Spyro." Cynder cooed.
"It's good to be back too now let's hurry, we don't have much time. We have to find the temple and the Master Core soon!" As Spyro and Cynder head deeper into the tunnels a titanic battle of massive proportions was taking place above them.

Two massive dragons are duking it out in the field in front of Warfang, The King in his Ultimate Dragon mode and Malefor! The harnessing the power of all elements the King fires a blast with near the power of a nuke at Malefor who counters with an equally powerful blast!
"FACE IT BROTHER! YOU'LL NEVER STOP ME FROM DESTROYING THE WORLD!" Malefor roared.
"WRONG, IT IS BECAUSE OF THAT THAT MAKES ME UNABLE TO LOSE! YOU WILL FALL AND BE BANISHED FOREVER!" The King roared back. Just as Spyro and Cynder exit the tunnels Spyro stops and glances toward the King….
"Dad…." Malefor crashed the King into the wall that Spyro was standing on, smashing it to rubble and dropping Spyro into the battle. The giant Malefor snaps at him but Spyro quickly dashes side to side, blasting Malefor in the eyes giving the King the chance to shove him off. Malefor roars and blasts Dark Flames at Spyro and just then Tyson jumped in and joined Spyro in the driver seat causing their power to increase. With a single hand a stream of fire holds Malefor's attack off and with the other they blast another stream of fire which pierces Malefors attack and blows in his mouth. The King charges, his power flowing around him as he collides with Malefor and takes off to the stars, heading straight to Earth as they learned they would in the present day.
Spyro returns to Cynder who promptly smacks him upside the head.
"Hey what was that for?" he asked.
"Don't you know you could've easily changed our future doing that?!" Cynder snapped.
"Huh…hey I didn't know…I just got caught in the middle of it…" Spyro said.
"If we get any more involved here then it could change our entire future: me and Spyro could never meet, the King loses this fight and Malefor destroys the world easily. Let's just find the temple and get back home." She says.
Spyro nods as Tyson takes the driver seat, "I'll take it from here Spyro. Let's go Cynder, I have no idea how much time we have." As Tyson and Cynder fly toward the center of Warfang a familiar white dragon follows them….
After a while of flying they soon pass over the main castle and spot a purple dragoness fleeing from a horde of enemies, at the same time Spyro begins to try and highjack their body, trying to dive down to the dragoness…
"WE HAVE TO SAVE HER!! THAT'S MY MOTHER DOWN THERE, LET'S GO!!!" Spyro screams.
"Spyro listen, you know we can't. If we save her then your egg will never have to be kept sealed, you and I will never meet, I would still be Malefor's slave and he would be resurrected sooner than before and destroy everything." She explains.
"Listen to her Spyro, I know it sounds coldhearted but it's the one thing Chronicler warned us about as we were flying to the temple in our own time in our minds…" A flashback in Spyro's mind brings up the moment…
"Listen both of you…when you arrive in the past you must fight the urge to change ones fate. Doing so will keep our world as we know it intact, but even if the slightest alteration to ones fate was made it will have devastating effects in our time…"
Spyro clenched his eyes shut as everyone heard her final scream…only Cynder saw her body fade and her Core Orb rise into the clouds and vanish….
"Spyro…." She whispers.
"It's ok….lets hurry…we're almost to the temple." As they flew off Cynder couldn't help but feel as if the Queen had spotted them…she wondered if she was disappointed that her son from the future couldn't do a thing to save her….
Meanwhile back at the battlefield the King and Malefor crash back from Earth, both worse for wear. Malefor had a huge hole in his chest, which must have been how a fragment of Malefor's whole Core Orb ended up on Earth while the rest of him came back here.
"Face it brother, you have lost everything! Your Queen, your kingdom, and soon your unhatched child! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" he cackled!
"Spyro…"
Tyson and Cynder finally reach the top of the temple only to see the original Guardians, the present day Guardians fathers, standing on four insignias in a square formation with all the Core Orbs floating above them in a circle and the Gate wide open, the natural four elements, Fire, Earth, Electricity and Ice float down and enter….IGNITUS AND THE OTHER GUARDIANS!!! In this time they're just little kids and when the Core's fully enter them they are led away, the remaining Core's are sent into the Gate as it is sealed and the original Guardians fade away.
"No…where's the Master Core?! ARHG, IT'S GONE! It was probably thrown into the Gate before we got here and now it's hidden somewhere in time!" Tyson groaned.
"Actually that's not at all true." Tyson and Cynder spin around to find a young white dragon standing in the doorway, looking closer they realize it's the Chronicler but much younger.
"Uhhhh….what do you mean kid?" Tyson said.
"I mean that what you seek isn't exactly what you think it is. This place is home of the 9 Stars of the Dragons and they have a saying, it goes like "When the 9 Stars unite the Great Star shall be born". Why do you need this 'Master Core'?" he asked.
"Cynder, a word in private." Tyson pulls her aside and whispers, "If this kid is supposed to be our Chronicler then how come our guy has never told us this? He's always known something about the Master Core…"
"Actually no, I don't think he actually knows what it is. The dragons of this time think it's actually a symbolic item rather than the Ultimate Core Orb…but to them it's just a…myth…"
"Though I should tell you that such a unison has never happened. Not even the Guardians could unite the Stars so in truth the Great Star is only a myth, a legend never proven. Say…you, the male…you look strikingly similar to the King! But how?"
"Sorry guy but we gotta get outta here!" Tyson summons Oracion and jabs a single light sword into the ground in front of the young Chronicler and temporarily blinds him, when his sight returns Tyson and Cynder are long gone.
Tyson and Cynder are racing back to where they came in when suddenly Tyson clutches his heart and drops out of the sky and crashes onto the walkway of the frontal wall of Warfang.
"Tyson what's wrong?" Cynder shrieks.
"Gah…it….it's Spyro…something's happening to him…gah…it feels like he's fading….away…!!" he groans. Just then Malefor gains the upperhand against the King, ramming his head through the wall of the Hatchery where….Spyro's egg is kept!
"Look! Look at your only unhatched child as its egg is shattered, the moment the barrier protecting it is broken your resolve shall vanish!"
Just then Tyson's Dragon Trigger canceled as the barrier around Spyro's egg is failing, "Ahhh, Cynder we gotta save Spyro's egg!"
"But what if someone else is supposed to save him? What if that person is vital to keeping our time as it is?" Cynder said.
"ARRRG, NOW'S NOT THE TIME FOR THAT! MESSED UP FUTURE OR NOT IF SPYRO'S EGG IS DESTROYED THEN THERE WON'T BE A FUTURE!!!"
Just as the barrier around Spyro's egg is broken Malefor raises a titanic paw and brings it down before the King could stop him. But then Malefor jerks his paw back up, roaring in pain, the King looks down at the Hatchery and sees a strange creature holding up a huge sword and a black dragoness protecting his son's egg.
"Who are you? What do you want with my child's egg?!" the King demanded.
Tyson just smirked, he and Cynder decided not to say their names before jumping in, Tyson turns to Cynder, "Hurry, grab the egg and get it to safety. I'll stay here and buy you some time!"
"What? Who are you?" the King asked again.
"Let's just say…we're allies in the same fight far FAR away!" Tyson takes a fighting stance as Malefor recovers from the new hole in his paw!
"Raahhhh, you think that such a puny being can help you defeat me? You are a fool brother!!!" Malefor cackled. Tyson wrapped a bandana around his head and his scarf tail around his mouth.
"Yeah, well you're gonna find that I'm pretty damn hard to beat and your gonna be in some pretty damn lotta pain when we get through with you!" Tyson shouted!
[Greatest Battle Music of All Times: Dragon Rider]
Tyson dashes down the wall and across the huge battle field, rushing through the hordes of enemies slicing and dicing as Malefor drops one of his paws. Tyson leaps and soars through the air and slashes his paw away, Tyson manages to land on Malefor's back, he races along it stabbing and slashing at his back as he makes his way to Malefor's face, Malefor turns his head and begins charging his attack just as Tyson leaps and uppercuts him in the chin, forcing him to fire his blast into the sky. Then Tyson lands on his snout and proceeds to slash and slice Malefor's face to hell!!! Malefor reels back as Tyson leaps backward just when the King charges forward and rams into Malefor's chest sending his 60 foot tall multi ton bulk scraping across the field.
As the fight continues Tyson can feel Spyro returning as Cynder gets farther away from the fight, the King charges Malefor again and they go at it claw to claw, at one swipe their claws connected and one of the King's claws broke off and Tyson remembered what Ignitus said about Royal Legacy; how it was forged from the only remaining remnant of the King, a single claw that had broken off in his final battle. Tyson dashed toward them again but this time he spotted a child dragon stranded in the battle field, the King and Malefor's brawl began to get too close to the child and he wasn't gonna make it in time! He closed his eyes and willed himself to go faster, Malefor's front paw was about to crush the child only to be stopped cold by Tyson, straining to keep the massive paw up. Off in the distance the young Chronicler gasped as he spots Tyson holding up Malefor's giant paw under his own strength, Tyson was beginning to get pushed into the ground, the earth crumbling under his feet but he pushed back harder and harder.
Malefor chuckles but his humor stops abruptly as a rainbow colored glow began to shine out from underfoot, Tyson was glowing all the colors of the elements signifying that Spyro was now completely safe and his spirit was returning to Tyson, with a mighty roar Tyson blew back Malefor's paw up higher than his head.
"Good to have you back buddy." "Good to be back now let's finish this fight!" Tyson runs toward Malefor who was about to slam down his paw but Tyson jumped so fast that he was already up in his face before he could slam it down, with one swing Tyson sends Malefor sliding into the nearby mountain face as the King charges in hooks him with his horns and hurls him into the air. Both the King and Tyson followed Malefor up into the air before smashing him downward with one synchronized hit.
"What…how can that puny insect be so powerful?!" Malefor wheezed. As Tyson floated down to the ground he actually ends up landing on the King's snout, he looks back and the King only nods and Tyson knows exactly what to do. The King charges and holds Malefor back as he charges his attack, Tyson leaps up and wraps Thundus around Malefor's main horn and yanks back.
"Wait, what are you doing?" the King asked as he charged his attack.
"The gaping hole in his chest!!! It goes right to his weak spot, BLAST IT!!!!" The King roared as he opened his maw wider and with a mighty eruption unleashed his attack as Tyson leapt up from behind Malefor's head and with Royal Legacy in hand at the exact same time that the King unleashed his blast Tyson plunged his sword through Malefor's forehead just as the blast rips through Malefor's chest.
"WELCOME TO HELL JACKASS!!!!" And in a bright flash the rainbow colored beam tore a hole right through Malefor's back.
Tyson leapt off as Malefor lurched backwards in a heap, he landed in a way that the Royal Legacy that was still in his forehead was right in front of the sunset, he held out his hand and Legacy came flying back, after he caught it the King; still in his Ultimate form loomed over Tyson.
"I thank you for your astounding bravery and courage, warrior. I would be honored to learn the name of such a powerful warri………" A sudden chill stopped the King midsentence, he turns his head to see…Malefor, still breathing after such a blow…
"See….hissss….I told you brother….I HAVE BECOME IMMORTAL!!!!! YOU HAVE FAILED, YOUR KINGDOM, THIS WORLD AND EVERYTHING THAT OPPOSES ME IS DOOMED!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!" Malefor laughs madly and insanely as he summons more of his dark forces.
The King darts his eyes side to side before glancing back toward his kingdom, with a solemn look he closes his eyes…knowing full well what he must do now…

With a powerful pump of his gargantuan wings he blows Tyson back into the frontal walls, when he recovers he sees the King begin to do what the data file said he did.
Time seemed to move slowly as the King began to gather all of his power, using his wings to collect the energy a white light began to shine around him, Tyson made one glance at the Kings face…and there wasn't any fear or sadness…it was looked like he was actually at peace with himself.
"Malefor…you've never understood what it meant to be one who everyone looks to for guidance, for understanding. All that you understand is power and using that power to terrorize innocents; that is why Mother and Father chose me over you, it wasn't because I was their favorite child it was because I have lived like them, because I tended to crops, experienced the hardships the people of our world have outside the world of royalty. I knew what their life was like because I have lived the same…this world has never needed a tyrant…what it needed was one who could lead it to a bright and wonderful future. So here…at this field…the War of Darkness and Light shall end…if you were half the dragon I am then you would know I would that I will give my life to protect my people, my family, my friends without hesitation! NOW, WITH ALL THE POWER IN EVERY CELL OF MY BEING, I BANISH YOU AND YOUR EVIL ARMY TO THE DEPTHS OF THE UNDERREALM, YOUR BODY AND SOUL SHALL FOREVER BE SEALED AWAY SEPARATELY, FAR APART FROM ONE ANOTHER. GO NOW KNOWING THAT IF THEY SHOULD FALL THERE WILL BE HUNDREDS MORE TO TAKE THEIR PLACE AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS AFTER THEM TO OPPOSE YOU! FAREWELL MY FORMER BROTHER…." With a whip of his head a beam of dimensional energy blasted forth, cutting a hole right to the UnderRealm. The vortex pulled all of Malefor's army into it like a blackhole, Malefor straining to free himself from the vortex, his very soul began to be ripped from his body and as its fully separated and sucked into the vortex his soul and body are pulled away in different directions.
As the vortex closes the King's body began to shine bright white and blinded everyone…everyone but Spyro who appeared as a see-through shadow. He looked up and saw his father's body slowly disappear, "Father…."
"My son…I only hope that one day you will find it in your heart to forgive me. To forgive me for never being there to see you hatch, for not being there when you take your first step or have your first flight, to help train you when the day Malefor resurrects and to fight by your side. The day you hatch I hope you are surrounded by friends and a family, when you come of age I hope that you find my 'crown' and claim your birthright…Forgive me……Spyro…my son…"
"I already have a long time ago…Dad…" The King opened his eyes and looked back at Tyson and as his head begins to fade away, his eyes go wide as he sees Spyro, bonded with Tyson and sees their true form, their Triggered form.
"Ah, my son….son…son…………" The last thing to fade away was his left eye and as it did so he gently closed it, sighing contently and at peace before vanishing completely. While the entire area was blinded Cynder swooped in and carried Tyson off to where they came in.
After the light faded Tyson and Cynder stood in front of the Gate, facing the empty field where the King gave his life, Cynder put Tyson's arm over her shoulder and held him close, knowing what became of him in the future.
"Well it looks like we've become a part of history anyway but we still didn't find out where the Master Core Orb is hidden." Tyson said as they walk to the Gate.
"Still…that riddle the kid Chronicler said…it keeps nagging at me…what if it does have something to do with the Master Core?" Cynder said.
"I don't think that stars are the key to finding it…but at least we know that it really doesn't exist so 1. Red doesn't have a power source to run his Malefor wannabe robot and 2. It does make him a whole lot easier to beat him for good. Now let's get back home and find a way to locate him." Tyson triggers not knowing that the young Chronicler was watching them and saw Tyson transform into a dragon before leaping into the Gate followed by Cynder.
"I may not know who you are but I will be certain in making all of future generations know of you…Dragon of Light and Dragoness of Darkness."
Now back on their way home through the Gate out of nowhere bolts of frighteningly evil and powerful energy surged through the Gate, threatening to tear it apart!!!
"So you are the ones who truly believe you can defeat me. What utter foolishness and pitiful bravado…"
"What the?! Where are you? Show yourself so I can kick your ass!!!" Tyson snarled.
"I am beyond the reach of your planets moon and beyond your insignificant feeble power to even stand in my presence but you have proven to be stronger than anticipated time and again so you must be disposed off posthaste!!" The moment the booming voice ended that sentence, bolts of pure evil struck Tyson and Cynder, pulling them away from each other and with one mighty surge the bolts shocked them unconscious and they were flung into the walls of the Gate and both of them vanished…
"Now nothing stands in my way of having my revenge…you hear that…FATHER…your time draws near…hahahahahahaMWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!"
A mysterious new enemy whose powers are of unheard viciousness has reared its terrible power and Tyson and Cynder were its first targets! Tossing them into the walls separating them from the evil infested UnderRealm. What role does this heartless monster play in this fight, who is its "Father" and why does it want him dead, what has become of Tyson and Cynder? It's getting down to the wire so stay tuned to find out!
