...I guess I might have a bit of a collar kink.
Left to right, up to down:
1. Thick steel chain, bought cheaply as a leftover from a whole roll at a tool store.
2. A lighter chain with a much more worn look. Used to be an actual dog chain before I got it.
3. Thin choke chain, clip added by me. Inconspicuous enough for wearing it in public under my shirt.
4. "Fur saver" choke chain. Rings put together by me.
5. Shock collar bought cheaply from an outlet. Strap completely reworked by me; I've also attached wire on both sides of the receiver so I can fairly quickly change the attachement, either to my collar or to Trajan's (SAFELY. See note below before you yell at me).
6. Leather collar, used to be a strap in a dog muzzle (used before I bought it at a flea market). D-ring added by me.
7. Chain (bought as a leftover like #1) with a clip (bought at a flea market). Can be clipped safely or to form a contracting "fur saver" choke chain.
8. Thin prong collar, used before I bought it at a flea market. Only half of the links have prongs. Clip added by me.
9. Double prong collar. Used to be long, I've separated it into two parts (part two is without prongs, and not shown in the photo) and added the clip.
10. Prong collar I bought very cheaply at a flea market, it was very rusty and also very long. I removed the extra chain links, will probably make another choke chain out of them, and added the clip. The peddler asked me not to use the spiked side and some guy passing by yelled at me that these things should be banned. I said that I'm not going to use it on a dog :)
11. Double prong collar I made out of a single one. Plus, of course, added the clip.
12. Chain leash. Made out of a piece of decorative chain from a handbag and a clip from a nylon leash (not shown), both were bought cheaply at a flea market.
13. "Behavioral leash." Basically a choke chain, except longer. Made out of a piece of chain bought from the same peddler as #12.
Not shown in the photo: muzzles, either of my harnesses, anything that is a work-in-progress, any of Trajan's leashes.
Pls rate my collection. All comments or questions as always welcome.
Note: I do not support or approve of force-based IRL dog training, use of aversive collars, or any other speciesist bullshit... You know the drill. I do not use any of my collars on Trajan, with the exception of the shock collar when properly insulated and dog-proofed - I use vibration mode (it's much like phone vibration) for recall. In general, a collar should not be used to lead an IRL dog on a leash. No, I don't buy the "but MY dog is STRONG!" bullshit, Trajan is a 45-kg Russian murderdog with no previous training and somehow we're doing fine on-leash. Use a front-clip harness if needed.

Aside of that, I prefer used ones because buying them doesn't feel as bad as getting a brand new one... I'd rather not support bussinesses promoting dog abuse.
The shock collar isn't bad but tbh it isn't as much fun as I expected. At lower settings it's tingling or stinging, at higher ones it provides hot, sharp pain, like a burning blade. The intensity depends a lot on where it's used. On the neck, the muscle contractions are very intense even at the lowest settings when it doesn't even hurt, so I usually prefer to wear it on my arm or around my thigh. The best thing about it is the fear factor, if someone else is handling the remote you often won't know when exactly your trainer is going to press the button and how strong the correction is going to be. Out of all my collars, it's one of the most effective ways to immediately make me behave well :D But personally I far more prefer prong collars.

I ask because I was disappointed when I got one. Nothing, nothing, small tingling, bigger tingling, burning, strong burning. When I measured the waveform, I found that there was long impulse with rapidly rising voltage and too much current at high settings. Ok, it cause pain and it works but it can burn skin. I have gotten a lot of much better shocks, definitely.

Well yeah, that pretty much sums it up. It works but I imagined it would be much, much better.
I haven't measured the impulse in mine, I'll probably get to it at some point though. Best is high voltage but minimal current, right?
If it's alright to ask, what other shock devices you've tried? I'm not much of a fan of more typical shock toys, but it certainly won't hurt to know.
