Meowscles has always told Guff that he is not scared of anything, like from Swimming in Water to small creatures!
So what Guff thought to test it, is to send Meowscles to the closest Swimming Pool, and quite frankly that shook him completely down to his Swimming Crinkly Bottom.
So, Guff concluded that what Meowscles was saying was a lie!
And, apologies that it was a while since I have not drawn Meowscles, I quite frankly forgot to draw him between that time frame!

He was not there just to go in the Pool, he was just there simply to just test if he was actually scared of anything.
And if he did go into the Pool, it would be more embarrassing because he would helplessly shout for help from Guff, and that his Pamp would be soaked and can make things worse for him!
Edit: About the shoes idea, he would ditch those just to get into the Pool, but because Meowscles is an Poofy Kitty as he is, he will not go in the Pool anyway!
And if he did go into the Pool, it would be more embarrassing because he would helplessly shout for help from Guff, and that his Pamp would be soaked and can make things worse for him!
