Nathaanus visits many places on his travels, depending on where his adventurous spirit leads. Dwarven ruins are always high on the list of potential places, since he's one of the few in Skyrim that can wrap their mind around the advanced magi-science. Though after visiting one recently, he discovered a weapon very much unlike anything else he's seen before.

Intrigued, he paid a visit to Markarth, bringing the sword to Skyrim's expert on all things dwarven. Calcelmo took one look at the blade and easily recognized it as having been made by the dwemer that lived in Morrowind. Both of them were confused as to why this weapon was in a different province entirely, but the mage was able to easily recognize that though it is indeed a weapon, it was originally meant as a tool.

The blade appeared to collect and store static energy generated as waste from some of the machines the Dwarves used, so that it could be repurposed. That it was collected in a sword means it could be used against enemies. In addition to the typical lightning damage, it was capable of disrupting the static fields of individuals, occasionally causing them to levitate off the ground for a few seconds.

Learning this, and figuring out how to release that static energy into a deadly explosive shock projectile, Nathaanus knew what to call this sword: the Static Discharger. He figured that if ever there was a sword that would allow him to be effective against melee and magic fighters alike, it'd be this unique dwarven tool.
