
This is my idea for a new BG in WoW featuring gunships as the theme, I did the Gunship Battle in ICC once and it was fricken fun as hell so I thought...why can't we have a BG like that, it would be epic, here it is...Skystorm.
The basic idea is there are two gunships flying about overhead, Horde with fly clockwise around the islands keeping close to the islands while the Alliance one goes Anti-Clockwise.
The towers have AA cannons on them, these cannons will reduce the hull strength of a gunship (but not destroy it, that's not the point) as the hull strength drops, the gunship will fly slower which provides more boarding time when they clash midair.
The three resource points will regenerate the gunships hull strength (Docks) improve the AA turrets damage (Mines) and allow players to board their gunship at will (Airstrip)
The graveyard/camps will have guards out front to prevent graveyard camping, however they can be overtaken by capturing the point inside which denies the opposing team land access for a short time (2/3 minutes) and forces them to spawn on their gunship
All the towers are neutral and uncapturable, so be careful
The middle island is there to prevent chokeholds, if the enemy are blocking one bridge, go around it or cross the water
Now the main mechanic, the gunships, when they clash midair, cannoneers will pelt the enemy gunship while ranged classes can start to pick off enemy crew/players, melee may prefer to use jetpacks to jump over and board the enemy ship, when a certain amount of crew/players have been killed, the airship commander will spawn and become the focus point, a coordinated strike must be made between melee and ranged to down him, once he is down the gunship is lost and the boarding party succeeds and wins the BG, simple yet complex
