RIP Olivia Newton-John
The great Aussie songbird, Olivia Newton-John passed away from a long battle with breast cancer.
The 4 time Grammy award winner is best known for her performance along side John Trevolta in Grease. one of the worlds best selling albums of all time. Anybody around in 1978 remembers well the radio playing the songs from Grease seemingly non-stop with songs like 'You're the one I want', 'Hopelessly devoted to you', and 'Summer Nights'. The songs are timeless and fun.
Plus her role as Kira in 'Xanadu' starring along side Michael Beck and the great veteran actor Gene Kelly, though the movie wasn't a huge hit, the songs were. Best known for the songs 'Magic', 'I'm Alive' and thanks to ELO, 'All Over the World'.
Later her hits included 'Physical', 'Make a move on me', and 'Twist of Fate'
She was also very socially active for childhood diseases, breast cancer research and general cancer research.
But everybody will immediately think of her and Trevolta, singing at the end of Grease, "You're the one I want".

In 1993, when I was 33, and my dad was 60 he had a radical prostatectomy. He survived that, but it was chronic leukemia, and the effects of a stroke took him in February.
19 years after he had his prostate cancer treated surgically, I had my own surprise with it in 2012. Unlike my dad it was caught early and I had radiation treatment. 10 years later so far so good, and it has not returned. I can sincerely agree with the statement “Fuck Cancer!”
Sadly my experience has now denied me any normal chance to become a dad which totally sucks. My only hope is that more people take next month, September, to raise the awareness of that particular guy cancer.

"Let's Get Physical" is her song that got stuck in my mind, especially after one night back in the 1980's that someone in a nearby home held a party and played it non-stop.
