I remember wanting to design a dad for Jayden and Booker (and a husband for Rochelle, who I think I originally called "Tori" or something before deciding to change her name), but getting oddly frustrated with this design in general and portrait in particular for some reason, to the point where I nearly abandoned it several times.
Still, I somehow managed to pull through, and in hindsight I actually like his design quite a bit.

It seems like I often start with the babies--babies are cute, babies are fun to draw, but babies need parents, so I usually just find some underutilized character or one-off and decide "congratulations, you're a parent!".
It's actually very rare for me to design multiple characters with the intention for them to be a family.
