Map #3: Harido the Kingdom of Mists
Here is the third one I'm posting for now, this time showing Harido the Kingdom of Mists.
Based on Japan, it lies off the coast of the Shenglu Empire and is currently in a state of civil war as a mere child has been given the title of Shogun and rival claims are made by other powerful nobles, each with Imperial bloodlines that grant them rival claims (The office of Emperor is held by a direct line and is ceremonial; the title of Shogun is given only to those families with Imperial bloodlines).
Some neat things in this fantasy Japan include:
(1) Paper magic (including having an origami familiar spirit)
(2)Karmic Ties flaw in which tragedies of past lives begin to happen again in your current life unless you work hard to heal the sins of your past
(3) Noble families have kami bloodlines. It is possible to have the blood run strong in your character, giving them certain gifts that they can invoke when needed. For example, the descendant of a ginsing spirit can lay on hands or someone with fox spirit blood can grow claws and teeth in combat.
Greg is working on an expansion to Mhar Fantasy RPG to expand the rules to encompass Harido and Shenglu and is currently seeking groups willing to Alpha test the rule set. The 80 page PDF book draft he has still requires the core Mhar rule books, but he will provide free PDFs of the two core books for GMs who sign up to playtest (it does require signing a standard NDF).
You can contact me on details if interested.

This map...makes me think of the map that comes with the PC game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion!" Lots of places to go, and a mammoth of a backhistory loaded with a multitude of smaller stories and colloquial events within it all. Sounds like a really huge project, which is HUGELY APPEALING btw. Oo
Such as the case here in this setting. Behind the events of the civil war is a complex revenge plot by two lovers against the Emperor, Shogunate, and very people who live on the isles. One, a prince who now lives as an undead being that is constantly reborn in death, the other his kitsune lover who bitterness and anger has turned her into a vampiric fox-demon.
Yah, lots of stuff inspired by classic Japanese myth and bad anime.

I wouldn't be so quick to make that judgement based on the information you've provided, let alone the implicated depth within such information. See, there are lots of people who aren't at all alien to what political turmoil and the events within should entail in a story and/or project of a sort, but regardless of that fact, there will always be the other, differing portions of people who would marvel at something of this depth. Being the person who I am who is steeped in colloquial transitions of actual spoken words conveyed in a story context, I would know (and VERILY, since I'm black. ).
I once told someone that I don't have much interest in anime in general, but in the end, that notion is JUST how I just conveyed it: General. A "generalization" puffed up by its own presumptuous bias.
I honestly take very much interest in the culture of the Japanese, and I ALWAYS find myself begging for answers to my mountain of questions based on their beliefs and historical backhistory, OVERALL.
So, in short, my interest in this concept might look biased in some folks' eyes, but in the end, there will always be a particular beauty to be found in both the greatest AND the smallest of things.
