Can't believe I never posted this...
I bought her from
fuzzyfin earlier this year as a fixer-upper.
I completely re-did the eyes and feet, salvaging the fur only. Then I took the suit in around the middle to make it slightly less baggy. You can't see the dorsal fin here, but she has one, it's just flopped. Not an improvement you can see, but she got her zipper re-sewn as well.
So, all in all this was great sewing and building practice for me.
The name "Tardfin" is undoubtedly offensive to some, but even if I try changing the name slightly to "Durrphin", I will be keeping up her derpy personality. She is a SeaWorld reject and not a straight A student.
Sorry I don't have any "before" pictures.

*brings in taku and nak to help*
it's probably the sealfur from fabric(dot)com, which is the same fur the Calafin suit uses. from what Taku and nak are saying, it would be a good idea to refur the head, though some changes to the structure with foam may be needed, if you want more realistic looking eyes. Also, the dark coloration, while correct, is a bit overemphasized, you may want to try and scale it back a bit. As for the pecfins, it's up to you, but if you could I'd change them to handflippers, maybe two fingers a thumb?
A good way to make the dorsal straight is to take a piece of something firm, like thin plastic, cover it in fabric, and anchor it in the back; it'll wind up kinda like wearing a backbrace, but it'll keep the dorsal straight and actually help support your back, though make the suit a bit more hot from lack of thermal escape.
the ridge of black starting just above the eyebridge may be a good thing to modify, as right now it looks almost like a hairstyle, I'd make it more flush. Overall, the suit may require some blood, sweat, and tears, but she can he gorgeous with some TLC.
Also, what are the chances of getting you to lakeland? nak and Taku would love to help firsthand if they can
