Meredith Evelyn "Edith" Vaughn (born January 10, 1972) is an American politician who is the 47th and current president of the United States. She is the first Predator-Carnivore and second female president of the United States. A member of the Democratic Party, Vaughn previously served as the 40th governor of California from 2017 to 2025. Before entering politics, she was a Hollywood actress, television personality, and philanthropist.
A daughter of Irish immigrants, Vaughn was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, and raised in Houston, Texas. She established residency in Los Angeles, California, after graduating from UT Austin in 1994 to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
She began in 1995 by appearing in independent films. She landed her first role in a blockbuster film in 1998. Vaughn starred in several Oscar-winning and box-office hits. Once among Hollywood's highest paid actresses, Vaughn won two Academy Awards, one Golden Globe Award, and one Emmy Award, gaining her worldwide fame. She was also the host of her own talk and reality shows. She appeared in a total of 42 movies and 5 TV series. Using her immense wealth, Vaughn founded a charitable organization dedicated to providing financial assistance for Carnivore-owned small businesses.
A lifelong Democrat, Vaughn's involvement in national politics started in 2008 when she endorsed and campaigned for then-Senator Barry Ohana, followed by other candidates. Vaughn delivered the opening remarks at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, consolidating her status as an emerging figure in the Democratic Party. Vaughn described herself as a centrist moderate New Democrat. She built a network of supporters nearing the end of her 20 years of career in Hollywood. Vaughn's final film role was in 2015, before she launched her successful campaign for California governor in 2016. Vaughn was also an advisor on Predator Affairs for then-vice president Doe Wyden's 2016 presidential campaign.
Vaughn was the first Predator-Carnivore and first female governor of California. She was the third Hollywood actor to be California governor. As governor, Vaughn cut taxes and reduced the state government's spending on welfare programs. Re-elected in 2020, her response to the Coronavirus pandemic garnered bipartisan praise. During the 2020 predator riots, Vaughn maintained funding for California's law enforcement agencies and sent in National Guard troops to restore order. This drew criticism from progressives and led to a recall election in 2021, in which Vaughn survived. Vaughn later implemented mandatory anti-species-bias training for police officers and made California the first state to outlaw the use of aggression-inhibitor collars. In 2022, Vaughn ran for the U.S. Senate seat held by retiring Dianna Feingold; she lost to Oakland mayor Ingrid Lambert in the Democratic primary.
Vaughn launched her campaign for president on March 1, 2023. She won the Democratic nomination on August 5, 2024, after a close primary campaign against former vice president Jamal Harrison and nine other candidates. In the 2024 presidential election, Vaughn and her running mate, U.S. Senator from Massachusetts Ken Hopper, narrowly defeated incumbent president Donald Trumbull and vice president Mike Pounce. Vaughn's centrist political positions, name recognition, and money, added with an economy in a recession caused by the Coronavirus pandemic secured her win.
She left the office of California governor on January 7, 2025, following the expiration of her two terms. Vaughn was sworn in as president of the United States on January 20, 2025. Vaughn is also the first president to be born in the Generation X era. As Vaughn is married to first gentlemammal Judson Sawyer, a fox, and has four hybrid children, she is the first president to have an interspecies first family.
Vaughn signed into law the Jobs Creation and Taxpayer Relief Act, the Green Infrastructure Investment Act, and the Make in America Act in her first two years as president. She proposed, lobbied for, and signed into law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Through Species Equity Act. Vaughn issued executive orders protecting LGBTQIA+ rights and reproductive health. She appointed Isaac Wolfowitz as the first Predator-Carnivore and first openly gay supreme court justice. Amid rising gun violence, Vaughn indicates support for a federal ban on assault weapons. She presided over the Artemis III Moon landing and the U.S. Semiquincentennial celebration in 2026. Vaughn negotiated with congressional Republicans in passing her agendas of voting rights reform and tightening gun regulations. She signed into law the People's Health Care Act and the Medicare Revitalization Act, further expanding Social Security.
In foreign policy, Vaughn designated more major non-NATO allies to counter China, escalating the Second Cold War. She drafted the Fort Sumter Accords that settled territorial disputes between Russia and Ukraine. After gathering evidence that the Houthis possess biological weapons, Vaughn ordered an invasion of Yemen, which intensified the Arabian Peninsula War. She authorized the bombing of Afghanistan to topple the Taliban regime. She increased U.S. military intervention in the Burmese civil war to aid pro-democracy forces. Vaughn formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. She unveiled the Solomon Peace Plan, a proposal for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A first for an incumbent American president, Vaughn met with Iranian supreme leader Amzad Sharif twice to discuss denuclearization, though no significant progress has been made.
Vaughn launched her re-election campaign on May 3, 2027. Under her presidency, the United States' economy recovered from the 2020 - 2025 COVID-19 pandemic, preventing another Great Recession. Defying initial expectations, scholars and the general public typically rank Vaughn as an above-average president. Vaughn is credited for her economic, social, and domestic policies, but criticized for her hawkish and interventionist foreign policy. As the first-ever Predator-Carnivore president of the United States and the highest ranking Predator-Carnivore official in U.S. history, Vaughn is widely regarded as an icon of the Predator rights movement. In her capacity as president, Vaughn is often considered as one of the world's most powerful and influential females.

But the bottom line is this: since in-universe, the VP from 2009 to 2017, Doe Wyden (I'm sure you can guess who's that supposed to be), defeated Trumbull (I was thinking of "Trunk" but that seems too funny) in the 2016 election, I think that caused Trumbull to tone things down a bit so he can be more appealing to mainstream voters.
Considering how your universe's society appears to be modelled after Zootopia's Prey-Predator society, from what I've seen with her contingency regarding the abolition of the usage of Aggression-Inhibitors, I would suggest having the collars being replaced with Mandatory Therapy sessions which incorporated ethical practices to gradually reduce the emotional spikes which would be exhibited by some predators whom would be considered, by diagnosis, as mentally imbalanced which is what results in their sporadic fits of aggression which would result in either injuries inflicted by the aforementioned predator or unintentional deaths. Just for the purpose of being pragmatic. As you couldn't just outlaw such naturally unethical practices and not replace it with a more suitable alternative. Because it would essentially be the equivalent of removing a filter from a water purifier.
(A bit of a disclaimer, I'm sharing this comment as if I'm one of Edith's progressive critics lol)

My Sona would probably not see her eye to eye on all policies especially on interventionism and would look at the rest of her government while as a federal deputy (brazilian equivalent of Congressman/woman) to see what could do and definitely NOT do as a a way to write laws/bills/amendments and try to pass it on the chamber.
Poultry and seafood.
Though since the early 2000s, with the advancement of technology, climate change mitigation, and the desire to be accepted by the Prey-Herbivore majority, some Predator-Carnivore consume plant-based meat and insect protein bars, but this choice of diet for Predator-Carnivore hasn't been popular and mainstream.

Yeah, reptiles and insects too. They're the animals in my lore.
Only a majority land-based mammals (with the exception of primates, bats, and egg laying mammals such as platypus and echidna) evolved into anthropomorphic bipedal creatures with intelligence and sentience, but that said evolution did not happen naturally because...the anthropomorphic mammals in my lore were created by aliens.

Also all the people getting bent out of shape over her political affiliation, it’s literally an art piece of anthro vixen. I personally stay away from the political jargon from any and all front’s because I don’t understand half of it, and 90% does not affect my personal life. Regardless, I one day before I die want at least one political candidate to be a furry just so we as a fandom can be seen as something other than “people who dress up in animal costumes and do dirty things in them”. Break the stigma, that’s really all I want when that day comes
If she were real, and her ideals and goals are true… I’d vote for her in a heartbeat. And that’ll be another achievement of hers. She would be the first politician I’d vote for. Cause IRL, I refuse to vote for anyone. So, I tip my hat to and gladly shake hands with her.
Plus she’s cute, so… another bonus. But I’m trying to keep professional… but if she says hi to me, expect me to faint.
