Uncle Lucky had given Buck his first basketball. He looked after little Buck during summer camp and high school away games. He took him to FBA matches around the country, helped him practice, always encouraged him to play harder. It was Uncle Lucky who told little Buck that a bunny could be just as good as the biggest predators in the FBA, if he tried hard enough.
Uncle Lucky died just weeks before B-Hop's FBA debut. It weighed heavily on Hopper that his uncle never got to see him play pro ball.
At the beginning of every FBA season, B-Hop puts a black armband on his shooting arm. He says it's so his uncle can guide every shot he makes. He also says he won't play a game without it until he's won a title for his uncle.
Time to try again.

Thanks, Metal! Yeah, I had dropped this detail in B-Hop's bio a long time ago. Felt like it was time to revisit the story.
And for the record, B-Hop's uncle worked in children's television in Los Angeles.

Thanks, Rahne! Yeah,
paperplane is just such a gifted artist. He really captured everything I wanted with this, and I love the way he draws my characters.
Hee! Awesome! Look forward to hearing it.

Wow, thank you so much, J-Pup! I was so pleased when I saw the artwork from
paperplane. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect. What's more, I had originally commissioned a greyscale piece, but he added color-- and I think it works so well in this.

Possible Canon
Bryn Mastiffson has asked Buck Hopper permission to use some of the songs from the album Buck on his new album Sing To This Fantastic Life. The album Buck was recorded while its namesake was in the hospital, recovering from being clawed (Bryn wanted Buck to have something nice to listen to). Buck Hopper has the only copy, and the liner notes contain a legal statement saying the rabbit superstar owns the rights to all songs on the CD.
One of the songs Bryn wants to reuse in particular contains several references to Buck Hopper's uncle, stating that Buck should rejoice that he knew someone worth wearing an armband for. (In much the same way that Buck wears an armband, Bryn himself still wears his wedding ring).

Heh, I may have to look at the map again and see if I could give the FBA a mention in a future story of mine. Probably in the series I have for Tank Monster. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3793919/ here's picture of the super bruin and I have links to stories of him in the comments.
Thank you! Make sure to send your props to
paperplane. In this case, he not only drew the character, but also the background-- he really made this come together.

Thanks, GT! Yeah, that was the idea. I think it was made even more so by the way
paperplane sketched this. I originally thought that the image would be a closeup of B-Hop's arm as he pulled up his armband, not even showing his face at all. But being able to see his eyes and his expression as he pulls up his armband really sells the story behind the image.

Yeah, I had made a reference to it waaaaay back in my Be-Hope article ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2364922/ ). Haven't really mentioned it since, but now seemed like a good time to bring this up again.
