Ok, I lied. The Crawler provides an excellent chance to stack artillery on as well. Will eventually go back and do a 'believable' artillery set up, but for now letting 'fantasy' take over rather than the restraints of reality.
Sooo, replaced the Gauss turret with 120mm (guessimating the size, its about big enough for the the little guys head to get put down the bore) "gatling artillery".
The passenger quarters of the Crawler have been refitted to contain the munitions for both the quad gun and the Gatling Artillery. This limits the Crawler to long range/mid-range support. The Crawler's Gatling Artillery turret spins and fires a single shot from each barrel(s) causing a small barrage of artillery rounds that would likely be instant death for any building or military structure/vehicle. It can only do thise quick barrage with a minute or so pause between barrages. Once Munitions are spent for the Gatling Artillery turret the Crawler pulls back to a safe distance to eventually get resupplied.
The Crawler 'Pounder's gatling artillery turret is best utilized when lined up with other Crawler Pounders to create a seemingly endless barrage. However like the Crawler APC, the Crawler Pounder isn't mass produced and therefore their presence on the battlefield is a rarity since they are used by the Rebels for Base defense and by the GFA for mid range artillery against enemy Mecha, Fortified Defenses, and other hard targets.
The barrels originally were going to be a pull behind howitzer, but for some reason i went "Oh, i should make this a turret for the Crawler." ... and i did.
And i think that's all i got explination wise.
Modeled in Google Sketchup 7.
Enjoy~

When you give it lighter ammo and a more articulated turret suspension and some radars on top it it would also make excellent anti-aircraft defense.
=P Thanks for the tip/idea.
