I apologize in advance for the white background and the mirrored wing (but I was running out of time and my original sketch plans didn't work). XD This was for a group on dA that a lot of my friends are a part of, so I made a character.
He's a griffin gijinka... I guess. LOL. (I would have made him more furryyyy but that was against the rules, haha) :D
I tried to actually pay attention to refs and make things slightly less "anime", and although I only drew that wing once I'm kinda proud of how it turned out. >_> I'm sure there are oodles of things I can fix, but this is encouraging me to actually do more studies rather than making crap up. XD

Anyway, great job on this one.
Yess... nothing wrong with making things up, but I'd love to do some studies to learn the finer points of wings. I know there's a certain amount of feathers per wing section (skysealer is so good at counting them out, haha), but heck if I know how to do that now. >_>
Is your profession character designer? I've seen worse designs (in drawing skill and design) than this make it into video games. :P
Nah, I'm a graphic design student... I mostly do this as a hobby, but I'm glad you think so. :D /feels cool
Suggestion: Copypasta his wings before you add the notches to the feathers, as they are the most outstanding details that would make one notice this minor shortcut. Will also help suppress the feeling that the wings are the slightest bit *too* symmetrical.
Haha, well-said... I didn't for time reasons, but now that you point it out it *wouldn't* be too hard to go back this week and edit some more notches in/out. >_>
Those wings are absolutely breathtaking. D: I love the light shining through the feathers...
