This is a project I ALWAYS wanted to do. You know how music always inspires a person to draw right? And I am sure it is not uncommon that people listen to their ipods/iPhones and whatnnot while drawing.
So if you put some of your favorite songs on shuffle, it's always better since you get a sampler of some of your favorites.
I did just that with eleven songs that influence me as I draw. As you can see most of them are classic rock, heavy and thrash metal bands. Yeah typical guy who's into fantasy...listening to old groups like Iron Maiden and Metallica. And even a little Pantera...man is that old.
So this is part 1 of a project I am doing making CD covers and back covers based off a CD compilation of my own that features the songs I listen to while I work. The CD's only purpose of course would be used for in the car. Cause other than the computer, I wouldn't be surprised if not a whole lot of people listen to their CD players anymore.
The first subject I chose was Sin my lombax character. On the cover he's standing a mass of robot carcasses. I like how he's holding up a robot's head all Sub-Zero style.
On the back is one of his henchman Zabel. Good lord I haven't drawn this guy in a while. Now that I look at him, he seems to be somewhat inspired by the Iron Maiden mascot Eddie. Same principle really.
On the back of course are the songs listed from groups I used to and still listen to. I know...am I going to have any modern groups or at least groups from a couple of years ago on my list like Coldplay, Muse and Chemical Romance? Maybe. It depends on if their songs get my creative juices flowing. And groups like Rob Zombie and Grave Digger always have.
I even included a made-up title. But I really think if I wanted a title like 'Hellfire Epiphany'; I needed to pick more hardcore music for it. Napalm Death and Slayer are perhaps some of the most hardcore on here.
I even got a little Parental Advisory and USP Code on the case. I think USP codes normally go on the right so it's clearly an afterthought. The album cover artwork is the real focus here.
It's fun making album cover work. They're usually the best parts of the actual albums. I plan on making more of these.
