Purely an experimental drawing because I’m currently trying out Clip Studio Paint for the first time to see if it does what I need it to do.
And ho-ly shit. I’m in love. This is loads better than what I was hoping for and this was the result of just fucking around to see what it was capable of. I really wanted to try for a “professional manga” sort of look and this definitely fit the bill.
The art itself is of my main OC Alekt and his Norwegian Fjord horse Sangrida on a cross-country Mounted Shooting course. I wanted to have a little mix of modern, old Norse, and Native American themes to their clothing and horse tack and I think I got a pretty good blend of that, and leaned a little more heavily into the Native themes, especially for the horse regalia (which I looked up a ton of real native horse tack references for, but still ultimately went with my own patterns and style).
Also, yes, Alekt and Sangrida ride bitless :^) tbh they don’t even really need reigns. Alekt is a great rider.
All in all, I’m really happy with the results… definitely gonna be using this program more heavily from now on instead of photoshop.
