Selgat is all "this is yours" and peaces out huh. Makes me wonder whether Ka planned this so far ahead? Let Moi get familiar with the smell of the flowers so he could track her down? I know it was established very early Selgats love the flowers too but it seems too deliberate that she prepared them beforehand with the cryptic line of "You'll appreciate it someday".
Or is it Elestian "Coding"? Ka and Moi were introduced to eachother first and were each given direct "commands" about the other. Did Moi's "coding" trigger because he felt she's going towards water? Conversely, did Ka disobey or follow her orders? She tried to give him freedom - even if the end goal was selfish. But by doing so she exposed him to pain, both the punch and the emotional trauma of what he just got through. Also interesting to note, Gen nor Tan are present. We've seen what speeds they are capable of operating at so zipping around to locate their Poseans seems trivial.
Regardless, thank you for taking us along for the journey. Here's to more adventures!

I believe lots of people would call that an ablist comment. Moi doesn’t seem to care that he can’t see, and honestly, why should he? All he’s known is this blindness, and he’s content with it.
This is actually an attempt by Ka to get over her guilty feelings about Moi’s blindness. She knows and feels that it is her fault and she is unable to forgive herself for it. That is why she is doing this and what ultimately makes this whole thing selfish. She is doing it for herself, not Moi.

If you found out your presence was literally handicapping your best friend, and all you had to do to undo it was never see them again, I can’t imagine what kind of monster wouldn’t.
Also, “lots of people” are idiots who misuse big words like that one. It’s not ableist to try and fix what is objectively a limitation ESPECIALLY when Moi has specifically commented on how he can’t do anything by himself because of it. Was it wrong to not bring him into the loop and get him in on the plan? Oh yeah definitely. Wrong, but not ableist.
And speaking of Moi: Like, yeah, he’s fine with it, but that’s because he has to be. To him he can either whine and cry that he’ll never get to see or he can get over it, but that doesn’t mean he would turn down sight if it was offered. Im sure there are a lot of people who’ve come to terms with their disability that would JUMP at the chance to have the struggle ended and their limitations cured. For example: me!

I cried a little at the end. What a good story; it's making me think about my own life in new ways, even! Like, how do you treat your spouse when you feel trapped by the relationship, even though they have good intentions? Moi's shown great courage and love, so I think they'll want to be together more often, now.
Oh, also, I felt like mentioning how similar is the "previous-life" idea to the truths I learned from church (of Jesus Christ of LDS). Makes sense to believe we have souls with a past if you consider how different we all are on the inside, even from our childhoods. (If you want to learn more, start by reading https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org.....s/premortality It's not much, but I do know it to be the truth!)

I just discovered this the other day thanks to a friend's recommendation, and having read the entirety of the first chapter in one sitting, I can't get it out of my head. Speaking as both a professional writer and a wide reader, this is one of the most affecting things I've read in some time for reasons I find difficult to articulate.
There is a sincerity and unpretentiousness in this work that seizes the heart. An innocence, even, despite the fact that the story is about people with terrible emotional baggage. Nothing about it is defensively ironic or self-consciously manipulative.
It's clear that this is a work of passion and heart. Here you have something that *is something*, something significant and even important. Please continue, and do not be discouraged.
