First, I'm a pediatrician, so I think I know a lot more about kids than you do.
:I
Second, I had an athletic cup in place, so there was nothing to see.
There's still stuff there.
Last, I had a zipper, as all men's pants do.
Not on the base of the crotch. I doubt thats what the zipper's purpose is for on a FULL BODY zentai.

Actually its only the US that insists on spelling it Aluminum, which is in fact. Wrong.
Note how so many other elements end with "ium" there is a reason for this. We do indeed spell it as Aluminium and also pronounce it as such.
But this is straying far from the point so I digress.

I don't really think this is trolling. I don't normally get into these sort of things, but most of these people have a point, in my opinion. In any case, this is the internet on a public website where comments are enabled. If you don't want to hear the good with the bad put it on DA or another website where you can disable comments.
Nice fursuit head. I do think everything has a time and place, but on an airplane not sure on that. I know I am already pretty uncomfy on a plane and having that sort of costume running around would probably bother a few people. I am not here to say don't do this or that but think about how uncomfy that might of made others feel on a plane. Do it at cons, parties and places where people can leave if they don't want to be around it.
Thanks for the thoughtful post.
I hear your point. I don't see it in the sexualized manner that some furs apparently do. Spandex outfits are used by cyclists (I wear mine when mountain biking) and by dancers. I have several in my family, and they run around in lycra all day. The suggestion of shorts was made for public places, and I certainly will consider integrating that in.

If you think stuff like this is what gives furries a bad name, you are a fucking self-repressed IDIOT who doesn't know how to assemble a coherent argument. Obviously, you've never driven down Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, or opened up a men's magazine, or even turned on a TV, where you are inundated with scantily clad women AND men showing off bulges of all kinds. You've never been to the beach where people are a lot more naked than a zentai suit. You've never watched the Olympics, or been to a swim meet. A woman can practically have her ass hanging out of her jeans but a man has to be as flat as a Ken doll or else he's a creepy pedophile that kids must be protected from? FUCK YOU and your sexist thinking.
You really want to know why the general public thinks furries are sexual deviants? Just open your fucking eyes and LOOK at what is posted on FA. Do a Google search on "furries" with SafeSearch off and you're going to see yiff. It's the damn artwork, fools. Now, don't get me wrong. You have a right to your art, and to share it. But it is just SO obviously hypocritical that you want to blame guys for even hinting that they might actually have genitalia hanging between their legs for being the reason for the fandom's bad rap, but you don't yell at the yiff artists who draw and distribute all kinds of kinky stuff ranging from cub to vore to transformation and whatnot.
I'm totally disgusted by the insane level of hypocrisy that some of you have. The same arguments that you're making against Spottacus for wearing a completely harmless costume in public are the exact same arguments that the general public would make against you for being an "animal-fucking furfag." And you are too fucking stupid to realize it. Take a good long look in the mirror before you go around deciding you have the right to say what's normal and acceptable behavior for others.

BTW, if the airline thought it was inappropriate attire, the attendants would've asked him to change. They didn't.
If you agree with me and Spottacus' right to wear his costume on the plane, speak up and say so. If you disagree, then STFU and stay in the comfort of your parents' basement, and make the world a better place for the rest of us mature adults who refuse to live self-repressed lives.

Not a lot of zentai on Sunset last time I was there, but hey...
Sunset Blvd =/= on a plane. Open street =/= cramped space.
Inside of a men's magazine =/= on a plane. Something you choose to look at, and can easily see without showing others =/= everyone has to see it at least once that flight.
Beach =/= plane. Wide open space that you don't HAVE to look at everyone's bikini =/= 20 feet (the width of a 747's cabin)
Olympics =/= on a plane. An event you can turn OFF from your television, but where you KNOW what they're SUPPOSED to wear =/= extremely uncommon, inappropriate attire that cant be unseen.
But thanks for making an effort.

You fail basic logic. Do I get to choose not to see giant billboards of scantily-clad women in lingerie when I drive down Sunset? If I have to put up with Victoria's Secret when I walk down the street, and if I have to put up with muffin tops and fat rolls hanging off people, then everyone else can act like adults instead of whiny children like some of you in this thread, and just get on with your sorry lives. Yes, it's a plane. Yes, it's cramped. But that doesn't mean anyone's propped your eyes open with toothpicks and forced you to stare. You don't have to look up. And even if you did, you can look away.
This whole "what is seen cannot be unseen" BS is just more infantile complaining by hypocrites who think they have some intrinsic right to not ever have to see what you don't want to see. Apparently, some of you are so loath to see Spottacus' picture that you clicked on the image and had to comment. Yeah, because that makes SO much sense.
And the height of the irony here is that the image itself shows nothing from the waist down! I mean, seriously, all of you complaining about something that's not even IN THE PICTURE. Yet...not a peep about illustrations of anthropomorphic creatures fucking each other...because it's "just a drawing."
I'd tell you to go back to school to re-learn basic critical thinking skills, but I then realized that perhaps you're so bad at basic reasoning because you haven't finished--and probably never will, given how stupid you are.

Sweetie your mistaking Basic Logic with Opinion in your argument. Too much. Sorry.
Billboards = a glance for a moment in passing, if that. Most folks keep their eyes on where they're driving/walking anymore. The idea behind billboards is sound, but no longer really strong as far as advertising goes. Those who stare long enough are doing so because they want to. And again, open space on the street =/= in a cramped space.
Also, the picture only NOW shows from the waist up. It was changed after all of the flack the original image got. Sorry.
If you drew a life-sized image of two furries fucking and paraded it through an airplane cabin, I'd call you on that. So comparing browsing that on FA to parading inappropriate attire in public isn't gonna fly.
As for trying to talk shit about my intelligence? Boo hoo, the random guessing of a complete stranger isn't really going to do much. That's just a last ditch effort to come out on top. And it's a fail.

He's talking about furries that have done much more harmful things to society such as child molestation or the spreading of aids within the fandom who are still accepted and openly befriended by the majority of the fandom. Basically, people are flipping their shit over something much less damaging to society as a whole.
Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was a statement in support of the trolling or against it.
That being said, please don't egg on these folks. The name calling and trolling should remain on their side so that those of us who use FA for it's official purpose won't get confused with the trolls when the hammers come down.

NOTE TO ALL:
It makes me sick to see your hateful words on MY web pages.
In the above postings, my character has been assaulted (i've been told a can't spell, that a frown fits me well, that i'm f**king this and that, and I'm a pedophile).
I've written to most of you individually, yet you continue to harrass me.
If you cannot post something cogent and respectful, please go away and leave my site alone.

I am not going to post anything hateful or thelike here, but there is really a time and place for anything. This one particular being an airplane , one should be respectful amongst your other passengers.
Why you ask? Because they don't have the option to leave the area if they wish to. And yes maybe pants has a zipper too but it's a hidden zipper and this was kind of showing up in people's faces. Now I understand not everyone dresses the same but on a plane dressing to a certain standard even if the flight attendants don't say anything should be used.
Judging by the overhead compartments I would say its an 767 and are used on longer routes, so you are going to make people who care, uncomfortable on this flight due to it's duration. I would not want to sit besides an amine fan in a anime cosplay suit as it just would create an unnesscesary (sp?) annoyance every moment I turned my face to that even if I know I can look another way. (I just don't like anime cosplay suits).
I am not saying you shouldnt do this but I am saying you should reason with wearing such a suit where people can move or leave if they are uncomfortable with their surroundings. I also understand The Southwest crew when you flew on that flight thought it was funny but SouthWest in general jokes around more than legacy airlines. And it doesnt mean the passengers think the same, only reason they flew Southwest was because of the price.
Also you say that you wear this to a concert and grocery store, fine but they have the option to leave the concert or store if it feels uncomfortable for them to be around your suit, a flight doesn't have that liberty.
In short I am saying there is a time and place to wear a Fursuit , but not really on a flight.

Once again, thanks for the most well worded post. I understand that there are differences of opinion out there, but nice to hear one that does not involve sexualizing or cursing.
I do think that most of the posters here do not realize that spandex is worn by lots of folks... athletes, cyclists, and the like. Where I live, hundreds of people every day ride by in spandex, and when I cycle I wear it too. Perhaps pants are a good idea, and I will consider this.
Thanks for the post.

Thanks. And some of the people criticizing my wearing this fully clothed outfit, when you go to their web pages have their mood listed as Horny and have graphic sexual art on their main FA page.
I am absolutely astounded. I mean, to criticize my personal integrity and character? To call me a pedophile? To use most of the four letter words that are obscene... such hypocrisy and intolerance.

OK -- folks, one last plea. Try to be kind to others. Some of the more offensive posts have been removed, Go twitter and drama-site about it elsewhere, but consider this: you are pounding a fellow fur. You need to be more supportive. Ever wonder why some folks jump out of windows? It is because of a lack of sensitivity of others. You're just trashing me above (even with the really personal and offensive comments gone) and it was kind of upsetting.
So, consider this: It is how I dress. What if I replaced "fursuit" with "Jew wearing sabbath robes" and used the exact words from a comment above? Let's see how this statement feels to you:
"I am not saying you shouldnt do this but I am saying you should reason with wearing Jewish Holy Robes where people can move or leave if they are uncomfortable with their surroundings."
Hey, that's why the white folks were in the front of the bus, right? So they could LEAVE if their sensitivities were offended or they got uncomfortable. Isn't that how it works? So let's now replace "fursuiting" with "Being Black"... and now how does your argument sound?
Face it guys, this is how I dress, and when you argue to morals of my furry wardrobe, you use all the same arguments that folks use to ban gay affection in public (it makes people uncomfortable), or Jews in Christian neighborhoods, and you insult me. You don't like it, stay away from the site where my friends and I congregate.

Sorry, same level of hate, same desire of one group to oppress and control the other. The courts are telling women who are not Christian how they can't get sex counseling, just like you are telling me what I can and cannot wear or how I can or cannot be out in public. In both cases, the answer is, this is none of your business, really, how I dress. Keep your negative comments to yourself and let me live my life in the furry way I see fit.
I strongly disagree. There was a big article today in the local paper on sikh children who were teased at school for wearing their turbans. They made people nervous, and the other kids called them terrorists. The problem is that the outfits made some people uncomfortable. In France, you CANNOT wear your muslim garb if you are a woman as it makes the French nervous. It is the public, in ignorance in my opinion, passing judgement on what people wear. The hateful words posted here (you can't see most of them, they have been removed by me or by the FA admins) are a reflection that some folks believe that their personal reaction is all that is important. This is what I wear, and to hear that it sets the fandom back to dress as I do, or that it makes me a pedophile, or that it is creepy, is pretty self-absorbed and mean.
The comment on being black was in no way meant to insult FA readers, it is however important to point out that the discomfort rationale has been claimed here and used to justify everything from racism to genocide, and it is a very one sided way to look at things. I may not like some of the art I see on this site, but out of compassion and kindness, I would never post the kind of arguments I've seen in this post.

I'm trying to be kind here, but oh my goodness. Being a black woman, I was 15 kinds of offended. Please, never, EVER compare fursuiting with the Civil Rights Movement. In fact, while you're at it, don't compare fursuiting to anything but fursuiting. You've probably also offended any Jewish FA members with your post.
I don't agree with your choice to wear your suit on an inescapable airplane (NOT a bus in the 1950s), but I'm not here to troll. I'm simply here to point out your logical fallacies and to warn you before you continue to offend people with your posts.
Good day, sir.

Good day, sir.
Well reasoned, but flawed. Large parts of my family were slaughtered in Europe when having Jewish people around made them uncomfortable. I sense the very same intolerance here: "you make me uncomfortable, you have to stop." I am a furry, and I would guess I have been anthro longer than nearly any of the posters... who are you to come into my life and tell me what is right for furries or not? I've been wearing anthro stuff for over 3 decades of adult life.
I'm personally on the fence about this issue lately. So what if you're out in fetish gear, if you get in trouble it's your own damn fault... I doubt most people on that plane even knew what you were wearing.... Don't bikers sometimes wear spandex? It's odd, but not that odd...
So what if it's a fetish suit, atleast you weren't nekkid, I guess? *sigh*
I really don't know where I'm going with this, but I'm always worried about you guys getting into actual real trouble. So uh, be careful I guess? o.o

I disagree, furry is becoming more known and accepted. Furries are looked down on by SOME members of society, but it seems to me the ones looking down on furries in the posts above... well, they are all furries, not non-anthro humans. When you do a search on furries, the pictures that offend people isn't this zentai pic, but the porn posted on every furry website.
You will never be able to chase kink out of the fandom. You'll try, and you'll fail miserably, much as many of the suit and tie gay types in the 1970's attempted as much as possible to kick out the leather daddies and limp wristed nelly queens. It didn't work then for the gay community, it won't work for the furry community now.
Stop trying, because like me, you'll realize that it'll only end in tears. Years ago, I nearly ripped out my hair fretting that the fandom's "kinkier side" was ruining my life as an furry. I realized, after long time of being in this life, that the mundanes will never let us shake it. Many pride parades throughout the country in the "bible belt" states which are completely family friendly, as it where, but the retards who hate gay people keep pointing to San Francisco and keep saying "SEE SEE!! THEM THAR FAGGOTS IN SAN FRANCISCO ARE WHIPPING EACH OTHER AND WALKING AROUND COMPLETELY NAKED!", regardless of the PG rated pride parade happening in their home town.
As you can see, trying to "cleanse" fandom subcultures is an exercise in futility. People (and especially furries) will post what they want and do whatever they want, and there's not a gods damned fucking thing you can do about it. So why pull your hair out?
Unless your purpose is purely to troll, what's the godsdamned point again? Where's the individual responsibility for the actions, rather than "OMFG, they're making me look bad and embarrassing me". Stop BAWLING and crying over what someone else does. Seriously.

The head and paws are super freaking cool. I'd probably be really weirded out seeing the zentai suit out in public, and it does strike me as a little creepy, but I've seen plenty of weird outfits before (some goths, the naked cowboy in times square, whatever). Personally, I wish the rest of the suit were a little nicer than the plain zentai. Even added details like a sash or loin cloth might make it cooler looking/more visually interesting and not remove too much ability to move around.
I think it's just that, compared with the level of detail in the head/paws, the zentai seems a little ... incomplete? since it's prefab and not customized or embellished. I hope this makes sense.
It may be weird, but it's not OH NO THINK OF THE CHILDREN!/"ur a pedo!!!!" weird or anything.

Understand, and I agree, it is indeed incomplete. But, consider that I just got the furhead from beetlecat a day or two before the trip, and within a year there will be a fursuit designed around it. Look at what has been done with other heads (like the spottacus cherval also posted on FA). All fursuits are art, and as such are works in progress. Even Spottacus cherval is going back to the builder for sewn spots after the painted/dyed ones were a big fail.
You apparently haven't had to sit through inventors pitching their latest ideas to venture capital firms... now THERE are some stupid ideas. The F***ing part is a bit much. All the f***ing is in the commentors mind... bikers wear spandex, i wear it while mountain biking, and I wear it to work. There is nothing obscene about it, except in your mind and some of the other posters who don't know that spandex is not just for the bedroom.
I must admit it was somewhat awkward on the plane, but most people had smiles, and even the air crew loved it.
I was on a flight home this morning with the SAME air crew, and they recognized me. They wanted to know where my friend was, and if we had fun at the convention. They really did enjoy it.
I think the hateful remarks are really uncalled for over-reaction. Yes things could be done differently, but chewing someone out is hardly a way to convince someone that your view on a subject is in any way valid. It is just hurtful and immature.
FA really has devolved into /b/ , and people wonder why I won;t give this site the time of day. Threads like this is why I will never take FA seriously.

I would call the argument an artistic one now. There seems to be a view among some furs that lycra is sexual. Cyclists wear it all the time (as I do when I mountain bike) and dancers wear it too. We have dancers in my family, and they run around all day in it. Even the last musical I saw (Wicked) has dancing flying monkeys in their lycra. So, I guess I see it differently than the detractors do.
I dont get people like you. last time i checked no one asked for your opinion and no one really cares how ridiculously ignorant you are no one forced you to look at the picture and no one forced you to comment unless theres a hostage situation you're not telling anyone about. I'm sure plenty of people have looked at you and thought the same thing but they didnt say a word. how about keeping your stunted mental and social capacity to yourself.
Dude who took and is in the photo you are awesome don't listen to the socially inept they don't really grasp anything of substance anyway. the head is absolutely incredible those paws are working for you and you are working those spots man. I admire you I'd be afraid to wear a suit on a plane because of all the weird looks I'd get seeing as I would not look anywhere near as good in that lycra as you lol

to anyone hating on this i would like to point out here: the lycra is not see through as some is so there is no excessive exposure. no one asked him to change he is not trying to start a fight and yet you are instigating the hate so how does that make you look? trolling achieves nothing. pointing things out in a polite and inoffensive way is the proper social behavior. just because you are behind a keyboard and you cant see the person doesn't mean they are not still there. say only what you would realistically say in real life. call me a hypocrite call me what you will but i never say anything i wouldn't say face to face
I'm sure some of the people you encounter in situations like this enjoy seeing such an unusual sight to distract them from their own discomfort (at being crammed onto a plane) and brighten up what would have otherwise been a mundane few hours sitting there bored to death.
Good times! ^.^

*snugs* I have found that to be true. On the trip I took this picture, I had a great time talking to a speech and debate team crammed into the last seats on the plane. As it turns out, their coach knew my speech and debate coach from decades ago... and they really wanted to hear about going up in front of groups and how my speech time in high school affected my life. When they learned that not only do I fursuit, but give presentations at national conferences and corporate stockholder meeting talks, they were really glad to talk about it. At one point, the flight attendants had to limit the number of folks coming forward to talk to me... but that was also becuase of positive responses.
But I digress... thanks for the post and the props.

Wow. It's impressive that you've managed to remain composed after the barrage of posts that you've received. It's remarkable and I applaud your resolve to remain calm.
On the other hand... I don't agree with the choice of attire at all for much the same reason that I would feel uncomfortable if someone hopped on a plane wearing leather bondage gear or for that matter, just a plain white lycra bodysuit and no costume head or paws. It's a little risque and too revealing. There's a line drawn between attire and costumes. It is especially tough when people can't relate on a humanistic level - eye contact or facial expressions when all this is hidden by your costume head. It feels weird, removed and alien - at least to me, when done in such an unexpected environment where people are already uneasy given all the restrictions placed on them by the airlines and TSA.
My hope is that you'll find a happy medium of expressing furriness that most people find acceptable as well. Maybe something in a leopard print that conforms to more typical sartorial trends.
Good roads.

Yay! An intelligent and well phrased post... Thank you!
I have no issue with someone disagreeing with me (as an entrepreneur I push boundaries all of the time, and get resistance too). Such feedback is good, as it gives me a feeling of what is out there. As I said before, I would never want to put furry in a light that someone else feels they have have to apologize for it.
Appreciate the post.

Y'know, I've read every single comment, and it makes me laugh to think of people raging hardcore over such a tiny little thing, if you think the "furry lifestyle" is bad for people doing this kinda thing, then alot of the ones here that left bad comments need to visit the Bdsm lifestyle and take a loooong look at things, this is Vanilla is all meanings, doesen't matter if the suits usually for fetish purposes, because at the time you were wearing in a completely non-sexual way, so i put it down to a simple "Your doing something i don't like, so i'm gonna bash you for it". Keep up the good work Spot, and remember, Sticks and stones.
(Sorry its long)
After seeing the photo, I have to admit that my first impression was "WHAT!?!?" But I think it was more from a security point of view.
I am assuming that (almost) all the negative comments are not because the outfit was seen to be unsafe for air travel or a security threat. (One could even argue that a bunny would be less confrontational than a hyena mask). If that was the case then the crew would have not allowed him to fly. (I guess this is like kicking off the drunk passenger argument). I am ignoring those comments that are just personal attacks.
Of the comments I could read, the main reasons for disapproval are it is sexual (inappropriate to children and adults), is not socially acceptable (inappropriate to adults), and is worn on a plane (forcing the passengers to see the outfit).
So is there inherently anything sexual about a zentai, even one with a crotch zipper? More and more fans are wearing zentai at sporting events (think green guys at the Vancouver hockey games). Would anyone think it is inappropriate to wear those in the stands? As for the crotch zip, other outfits have them. If someone wore full body motorcycle leathers with a crotch zip in a toy store, should I be offended because I think that's sexual? I think some people equate a crotch zip on a zentai as sexual because they know it can be used that way and not because it is sexual. I have to admit a crotch zip could draw attention to the crotch region which some would think makes it a sexual thing.
What about socially inappropriate wear? That usually means the outfit is insensitive/offensive or brings unease (someone in a clown outfit at a funeral, a passenger with a turban makes someone feel uneasy, or a tough looking teenager in baggy jeans and baseball hat goes into your store). Our reactions to various outfits is more of a reflection of society and ourselves. This is such a tricky subject to discuss as Spottacus has already mentioned. I don't think we would feel our personal safety was at risk because of his outfit. But is it insensitive or offensive? I have yet to hear an argument for this besides the sexual nature of it. I can't see a hyena costume as offensive to someone (maybe to other furries for some reason)
What about it being worn on a plane? Would one view the outfit differently if he wore it to the mall or at an ice rink? I doubt it. why does it make a difference that it was on a plane? Again, this is assuming there is not a personal safety issue with it. As for forcing people to view his outfit, I don't think Spottacus went into every row of the plane, introduced himself to the passengers there, and then did so every 30 minutes. Passengers do have the ability to not look at him when he goes by their row. Just as I don't have to look at a disgusting fat man try to squeeze by me.
Others have condensed this to its essence:
Assuming there is not a safety/security risk, "I" am personally not confortable wearing an outfit because of what other people will think about "me". And, "I" don't think others like "me" (teenagers, Asians, IT guys, furries, whichever group) should wear it because people will judge that person and then judge "me" the same way.
That is a reflection about "me" and how "I" deal with people generating opinions about "me". And THAT should not be forced upon anyone.
