June 23rd, 2021. "Rescue" dogs.
Someone on Twitter once DM'd me unprompted to recommend me the then-upcoming "Stray Dogs" by Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner. I knew nothing except it was about dogs, it was a horror story for adults, and most of its marketing depended on 80s/90s shoutouts and the juxtaposition between the cute art and dark plot. Ngl, I thought it was gonna be a lame knock-off of "Beasts of Burden" made to peddle lazy facsimiles of media long past to my nostalgia-addicted generation, but I finally read the series and I'll gladly admit I ate my words. "Stray Dogs" is to dogs what Michael Schaack's "Felidae" is to cats; gripping, heartbreaking, fascinating xenofiction that scared me worse then most human-centric horror. I think I'm in love!
