Finished the ref for Nessa’s Mythical!AU design. In this AU, she’s a mermaid obviously. Merfolk are considered the fastest swimmers in the world, but are also subjected to a lot of harrassment and discrimination because of their illusive status and the idea that they can be treated as trophies. Merfolk fishing was a macho sport for a long time until it was finally outlawed.

On top of her being a mermaid, Nessa has her beauty working against her sometimes, as it adds to the harrassment she suffers, which made her develop thick skin and a defensive attitude.
