For the rare few who actually read my journal, I had mentioned I'd do a intermission of sorts from the Poké-flood "to honor another 10+ old game who's finally getting its long-awaited revival on the little Nintendo console that could".
The console? The Wii. The game? NiGHTS.
And what better way to celebrate than with an update of one of my own old fan-characters, as well as the first character ever to show up on my FA Gallery?
Yup, I finally went and did that promised 'final' form for this guy: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/107813/ . Though apparently by final I mean "yet another huge makeover"; wanting to give him a revamp more along the lines of NiGHTS's own slight re-design, I gave him a change of clothes, inspired heavily by his namesake. For the heck of it, I also gave him an Ideya of Wisdom* (aka the blue gem) to complete the look.
Why the complete change in color scheme? One, the limited palette was a bit *too* limited for the new look. Also, I finally got a hold of a very small and blurry screenshot from the old game of Gao, the Maren baddie he's supposed to be designed after, and I noticed that the trademark mane and claws were the wrong color (eye probably is too, though I would have done so intentionally anyway). The old baddie also had red tusks, but I'll let this detail slide for the time being.
GaliLeo is companion to Thalia.
*yeah yeah, the green Ideya is Wisdom and blue is intelligence...IN AMERICA! Either way, it's not like neither one doesn't fit the character, so :P

I'm a little bit amazed at the propensity of NiGHTS fans to obsess over the chronology of a game it takes roughly three hours to beat. Granted, those three hours are jam-packed with understated emotion and amazing design, but... hmmm.
Still, I loved the first game and I'm so looking forward to the next one. Excellent work!

And to think I'm one of the more tamer varieties of NiGHTS fans! Seriously, I'm in the same boat in the "daaaaamn that's alot of love for a Saturn game" mentality.
As for the chronology thing...well, come on, I still feel old knowing Pokémon is 10 years old! Considering NiGHTS predates it by at least a year, the nostalgia factor alone can keep someone awake at night (dream deliiiight....).
Anyway, thanks :D
