Among the largest land and flying animals on Amasis, Nightwing leviathans used to dominate the skies when their advanced cousins, the Wryvirra flourished throughout the planet. Almost all Nightwings are domesticated and trained to be used for transporting multiple people. They are basically an organic equivalent of an airbus, a cruise ship, even a battleship. Nightwings are highly intelligent and capable of mimicry similar to most birds. They have super sensitive hearing and can easily hear you whisper. If you’re gonna tell a secret, don’t hang around these guys. They are also very social and like to hang out in herds, they also crave attention from people.
Nightwings got their name for their wings which are dotted with stars like the night sky. Like a tiger, the patterns are different between each leviathan. Various constellations get painted on their wings during holidays and festivals, sometimes a constellation is marked to identify an individual and usually has a certain meaning to match their personality.
Nightwings are mostly herbivorous, they normally feed on leaves of a now endangered species of tree and an occasional Waterblight that tries to pick a fight with them. With their food source becoming scarce, the Wryvirra made a variety of large artificial, nutrient rich blocks to keep them sustained for a couple hours until their next feed.
Unfortunately Nightwings are critically endangered due to a recent mass extinction leaving only 5-6 left, there have been several attempts of breeding but neither individual has been interested so they resorted to attempt cloning using DNA of both preserved remains and the living which is currently underway.
