Volcanic Tarakos are the largest of the Dracomajalids. They are monotremes, mammals that lay eggs. Much like earthen monotremes they appear to look like a weird hybrid of multiple animals. Tarakos appear to be part pig, snake and otter to make up their dragon-like appearance. Volcanic Tarakos reside in volcanic hot springs. They feed on small animals that roam near the springs to drink or to soak when it’s cold, some individuals repeatedly bash the animal onto a nearby rock until it’s dead, others constrict them like a snake. They aren’t great constrictors so to ensure the prey is knocked out they do it underwater. Unlike other Tarakos, these guys don’t like being gawked at by people or have them within their territory. They let off a low growl, making constant eye contact in an attempt to scare you. Mothers with eggs and young are much more aggressive and will attack.
