Not going to lie the only thing I think I can see what they were going for was a machine gun evolving into a cannon, but my main problem is they don't look related, like Wartortle and Blastoise, but much better because Toucannon at least still have some parts that you can see from the previous evolutions, while Blastoise was literally shoved into the Squirtle line.
