Also known as “Werewolves” or “Neo Daeodons” are large boar-like beasts, they’re separate from other porcines due to some differences like not having an upturned snout and three claws on the forearms as opposed to hoof like toes. They’re called werewolves because of their size and shaggy, grey coat. They also have parts with less hair like they have mange.
They dwell in misty, cold swampy regions up in far north Gigantis all the way down to eastern Drakdus. They are well hidden in the fog but they have a special, terrifying trait, they mimic the screams of their prey. People who are unfortunate to cross the swamps will be startled by the bloodcurdling screams, making them think someone or multiple people are in distress or in pain somewhere only to be killed trying to search for them.
Their name “Jarmr Feigr” is Old Norse. Jarmr = Screaming, Feigr = Dead/Doomed to die. Their habitat is similar to the descriptions of Hel or Niflheim, a misty, cold place where the dishonoured dead go. Having an Old Norse name felt more appropriate for this species.
