Nishi and I are preparing to further expand upon the magical world of the haposaurs by embarking on our second effort in bringing this wonderful series to life. This one promises to be even better with more colorful happy-hapo fun than the first that’s sure to captivate the minds of young readers while reminding the young at heart that happiness and good times are still alive and well.
In honor of this forthcoming project, Nishi and I thought we’d share this illustration he did of the haposaur crew back when we first started working on the series as a team. The shy, little red hapo is named Fritter and is Cappy’s, the hapo in blue’s, best friend. The big guy in the middle is Ducky. He is not only Lucky’s father, but also the wise and kind ruler of all the haposaurs. His magical abilities are unsurpassed and, with the trusty Saurral Staff, he is able to dispel any sort of trouble that may befall the land.
Interested in knowing more? My main user page has links to a few select haposaur tales in which I have written over the years. You can also check out the fun cameos the haposaurs and their friend, Truent, have made throughout Creative Campaign 2. However, the best way to experience the world of the haposaurs is through Nishi’s amazing art by picking up a copy of Welcome to Saurral Manor - Stream Stress and reading it yourself. Or, better yet, sharing it with a young friend and/or family member and seeing how Lucky and his pals can brighten up their day while teaching them life lessons that will serve toward making them kinder and more caring people.

Sorry, lemme try again...
GOOD LORD THIS IS SO ADORABLE
Okay, something a little more substantial.
Firstof all, it takes a good team with a strong vision to bring off a collaboration and execute it well. This peice manages to convey so much about each hapo very well using positioning, posture, body language, etc. the color work is very well done, with each saur standing out but not taking away the focus from any one element. For Nishi to be able to draw such expressive characters, I know you had to do a lot of work establishing who each saur is so that a peice like this will seem to be as natural as possible.
Also, from a freehand/value perspective, I really dig the trees.

Nishi did do a tremendous job on this. Would you believe that, before he and I worked together, Scuttle (the hapo on the far-right) used to be yellow in color, too? Nishi, along with my wife and bro-in-law helped me understand Scuttle needed to stand out more on his own and, thus, we decided he'd do great in orange. Now I can't even think why I would've ever thought Scuttle should've been yellow in the first place. This says something, as I wrote Scuttle as being yellow for 9 years and only in this past one have begun making him the lovable orange he is now.
Another fun fact is the hapo Pocky-Pants used to be all white in color. However, it made them look too much like diapers and, also thanks to Nishi, my wife, and bro-in-law, we fixed that. The color scheme of the pocky-pants is all Nishi, though. Pretty cool, eh?

I love how so many people can creatively contribute via collaboration and shape important looks and actions personality. For example, FW gave Toroth headspikes ages ago, and now I can't ever imagine Toroth without 'em!
Also, I really think orange suits Scuttles better, and Nishi chose great contrasting colors for the pocky pants.

It's amazing how you just never know what's missing until it is literally brought to your attention. Then, once it is, you couldn't imagine it ever being any other way.
Toroth and headspikes is like PB&J while Scuttle and orange is just, well, Scuttle. :) Also, I like how you spelled it Scuttles[/i]. Cappy, the blue fella, knows Scuttle by that name. Coincidence? Maybe... :)

Thanks, Lain. The haposaurs are my original characters and concept that have been taken dramatically to the next level through Nishi's brilliant artistic talent. Hopefully, in time, we'll be able to get these little guys out to a wider audience so others may enjoy in their happy and colorful adventures. :)
This is super adorable, as has been said! :D It's a credit to Nishi for drawing it and to you for conceiving it and coming up with the cool world of the haposaurs! I'm excited to hear about a new installment of this in book form! It'll be lotsa fun to see where you two go with it, and to meet s'more of your characters too! And I like that you're delivering a neat message, and I'm sure it'll be plenty captivating to readers of all ages!
Thanks, Bosky. As I can't help but say, the hapos wouldn't be as super awesome as they are now without Nishi. His faith in my work and unsurpassed ability to collaborate made this picture, along with Stream Stress[/i] shine more brilliantly than I could've ever imagined. For this reason, I cannot wait to get started on Book 2 with him and see where we can take the series and characters to next.
