Crested sandwings are a presumably extinct cousin to the Leviathans. They’re a lot smaller and leaner in appearance as well as having scaly crests instead of antlers. They were domesticated by ancient subspecies of the Wryvirra that once inhabited the desert and the tundras of Gigantis. It’s unknown how they went extinct (if they ever did) and likely the sandwings disappeared with them.
Sandwings are opportunistic omnivores, eating whatever is most available since food is most scarce in the desert, since being domesticated they no longer suffer from days or weeks without food. Living mostly on a diet of fresh fruit and some meat as opposed to mostly dead weeds and carrion.

The modern Wryvirra had attempted to bring the sandwings back by using Nightwings as surrogates, only one hybrid offspring survived but came with several deformities, a few examples being a shortened and brittle tail which had to be docked and very small and misshapen wings.
